Mego Horror Creature from The Black Lagoon 8" Action Figure Multicolor

Is this Mego Creature figure a doll or an action figure? Answer – it is both. Mego figures are 8-inch plastic action figures with articulation that have clothing or costumes that are made of cloth and not plastic. Hence, the action figures look like dolls. .I am glad that Mego is back in the business of making action figure dolls. I bought my first Mego action figure dolls circa 1977. I bought mainly Marvel characters – Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, Thor, Iron Man, the Lizard and (my favourites) Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. Some figures were better than others. I didn’t buy the Human Torch because his flaming body was simulated on fabric that covered the body. This didn’t look right. Characters like the Human Torch and the Thing are not suited to be action figure dolls. When we think of the Thing, we picture a scantily clad man whose body looks like a rock pile or the cracked bed of a dried-out lake. Yet, Mego had the Thing’s rocky body simulated on fabric but unlike the Human Torch, the Thing doll looked okay.This brings me to Universal Monster figures. Dracula, the Phantom of the Opera, the Mummy and the Wolfman are suitable subjects for Mego action figure dolls. The Creature is an exception. The Creature is naked – no costume or clothing. Like the Thing and Human Torch, a Creature figure is best presented in crafted plastic as done by Sideshow. Being a long-time Creature fan, I could not resist buying the Mego figure and I love it! The Creature figure should not be covered in fabric but the print work on the fabric of this figure is so beautifully done that it looks like crafted plastic. Have a look at the photos I attached. One photo shows a close-up of the Creature. Does the Creature look like it is covered in fabric? Which part is fabric and which part is plastic?Now on the toy quality – Although designed to be a toy, I am not confident that the Creature will be able to withstand rough handling in the hands of a child. I attached two photographs showing two damaged Mego figures that I purchased in the 1970s. One damaged figure is the alien from Space 1999 and the other is the Lizard from the Spider-Man comic book. No, they didn’t get mauled by the Creature. The damages happened in the last century – in the 1980s. I didn’t play with them but the body parts became loose over time despite no rough handling. The alien broke a leg. The Lizard lost a leg and unlike the comic book Lizard, it couldn’t grow a new leg. Hence, my advice is buy the Mego Creature for display and not to let Junior play with it. I might be wrong. The alien and the Lizard are from the first generation of Mego action figure dolls made more than 40 years ago. The new generation of Mego figures might be more robust.How big? The photos attached show the Mego Creature in the company of Creature figures by other manufacturers in varying sizes – a 6 - inch Funko figure, a 12 - inch Creature by an unknown manufacturer and two 8 inch Sideshow figures. The Mego figure is about the same height as the 8-inch Sideshow Creature. Fans of the Creature, grab this Mego figure from Amazon while you can before it flees back to the Amazon Basin

It's the Creature.Not much else to say...It's Very cool. Mego makes the big comeback with a very nice figure.It was a gift for my brother, and he loves it.

This is a fun variant of the classic monster!

As shown but the packaging is a little crusty.

I love oceanman❤️ He’s honestly my favorite, and being able to take him anywhere my little heart desires is a dream come true. He’s perfect in every single way, whether your a collector or just want him as a “toy”. He’s super Poseable and just overall amazing.💯

While the core of this creature is solid, it is covered in material which adds to it's perfect realism. It's about 7 to 8 inches tall. Most parts of the body are posable except for the head as far as I can tell. I bought him to add to my monster collection but also to take miniature photos of him.

High quality materials. Cool to have fabric covering some of the outer parts of the creature.
