what is the difference between the "masterson artist pallette seal" with the blue lid vs RED lid?

There is no difference between the boxes/palettes other than the color of the lid. As others point out, the difference is what is also shipped with the palette. The Red lid comes with the necessary items if you plan on using the palette for acrylics, but it can be used with oils (just don't use the sponge).

What are the dimensions and what does it come with? Does it come with the sponge and paper?

i have 2. the yellow one is about 9x12". better for carrying to class. it came w sponge, p. paper, paint cups, thinner cup. the newer ones are even tighter. the red one is larger. 16x12x1.75. they don't come w cups (you can get those at restaurants or w take out, but they have palette paper and a much better sponge than old ones, tray and air tight lid. everything to keep paints for weeks. worth every penny.

Can you use other pallette surfaces with this, for instance paper plates or parchment paper? And just keep in the plastic box? Thank you!

It is a rectangle plastic box with a lid, you can pretty much place whatever you would like in it. I think the dimensions are what appeals to those who use it as a palette box.

Will my 12x16 Posh glass palette for in there, since they're the same measurements??

I am a full time artist, selling art and teaching art. I have used a Masterson palette for 20 years and never put anything in it but the sheets of palette paper that fit it. I do not recommend using it with a glass palette - it really is unnecessary. The surface of the palette paper is slick on one side - that's the side you put the paint on - and as long as you mist the paint before closing and "burping" the Masterson every time, the paint will last for weeks. Then, simply change the palette paper!
