YES! It is the same thing and that is what I got it for. I have 5 tanks and use it for all of them also as a stress reliever when my fishes are sick!

i have a 3,400 pond how much do i put in

That depends on the unit of measure that is being used. To determine the volume of your pond, our pond calculator (search "API pond calculator" and it will come right up) can be of use, especially because it gives you both the gallon and liter measurements, for easier converting. You would add half a cup of this product for every 480 gallons for a regular dose (double dose if fish are stressed), so if this is 3400 gallons of water, you would be adding 3.5 cups of this product for a normal dose. A half cup is approximately 118mL and 480 gallons is equal to 1817 liters. So if this was a 3400 Liter pond, you would be adding 220 mL of Stress Coat for a normal dose. If you would like some easier numbers to work with for liters, the dose may be easier to calculate if you know that a normal dose is also approximately 100ml for every 1500 liters. When topping up a pond, do I dose according to how much water I'm adding, or the total pond volume?

I always dosed for the total pond volume. This product is also excellent for the fish. It protects their gills and scales. I used it twice a month faithfully whether I needed to add water or not. Hope this helps.

Stress Coat is a must if you use tap water to top up a tank or small pond. It neutralises chemicals in tap water and It doesn't harm any of the good bacteria in the water which help the fish with a coating on their body. We have used this on tropical fish and an outdoor tank with Goldfish without seeing any adverse affects to either. It also goes a long way so quite reasonable as per cost over its use.
