This is reviewing Dark Roast. Great taste. Greater price.
I have only tried the dark roast variety. It has a rich, deep, fragrant aroma and tastes great. It is packaged in an easy to open durable metal can, rarely seen these days. Just like it would have been packed in old New Orleans haha. Nice touch. I will continue to buy this coffee on a regular basis. I can't speak as to whether or not it is less bitter and smoother than just coffee without chicory, because I like very strong, bitter coffee. I wouldn't know the difference, but I can say that I really like this unique flavor.

Reminds me of Vietnam
Having been on specialty coffee for a while now, it doesn't scratch that itch. But it's nice sometimes with condensed milk to remind me of times in Vietnam.

Great flavor and amazing through my Aeropress. However...
I'm been trying to find a dark roast that provided strength and flavor for my Aeropress. Everything I'd tried so far took too much coffee grounds to satisfy me and coffee isn't getting any cheaper. Using double what I use for my drip coffee maker isn't an option. As soon as I got this coffee I ran it through my bean grinder to get the grounds finer and then the Aeropress and I believe I finally found what I've been searching for. It takes about 1/3 more coffee than my drip coffee maker but I can live with that, especially since this coffee is reasonably priced. Update: Caution. Due to the chicory, it could put you on the toilet more often if you drink too much. I love the flavor but I started sitting on the toilet much more often than I like. I did some research and found that chicory acts as a mild laxative and either due to my age (71) or over indulging, it works too well for that so I have to give it up. I also just learned that it's decaffeinated. It doesn't mention that on the site but if you look at the back of the can it tells you.
