This item is very solid but if you have a fiberglass canoe don't waste your money. It will NOT clamp securely to the canoe sides. Not only does it flex, it comes completely loose with slightest pressure. The clamping system provided is limited for use on straight metallic sides of a boat not a curved fiberglass sides. The flat rectangle for the motor mounting should be able to mount to top and bottom of the cross bar to adjust the height of the motor itself.. as it is now a trolling motor mounts too high. The top of the mounting plate should be the same height as the canoe sides not above the sides.The seller should provide information that it will work poorly at best on fiberglass canoes.

sent the firt one back because the threads on screws that are used to tighten mount to canoe strip easily because of shape of a normal canoe. canoe shape is not straight but curves. ordered another set and have used it but mount will come loose if it is not on canoe perfectly or if mount barely hits something. i like it because of rail system on top of mount and included rod holders.

I had trouble keeping this on my canoe. The item kept coming off from the force of the trolling motor (35lb). If you were willing to put a screw in front and behind the mount so that it could not slip then it would probably work well.

Very sturdy.
This was totally worth getting. No more trying to make a mount. Very sturdy.

Unstable
Rocks back and forth. Had to flip it over with block hanging down, and had to position the two rod holders over edge of canoe to eliminate the rocking. After that worked well but they need to redesign this for better stability.
