This pomade offers a firm hold with a natural-looking finish, perfect for styling hair without feeling stiff or greasy. It applies smoothly and allows you to shape your style throughout the day while keeping flyaways in check. I appreciate that it washes out easily at the end of the day and has a subtle scent. Great for everyday use or special occasions.

I was first introduced to this product by a barber at a barbershop on West Hollywood (Thanks, Jacinto). I have tried a LOT of pomades and this one doesn't feel cakey or waxey and has a more natural feel with great hold. My hair remains soft and not at all "crunchy or spikey." (When I want that look, I use a different product). What I also like is that a little bit of this cream pomade goes a LONG way, so I would suggest starting with an amount about the size of a garbanzo bean, smooth out between your palm and outwards towards your fingers and then run your fingers through your hair. (That's how I do it, anyway, lol). I definitely recommend this for that natural look and feel. My only concern is that when I received my last order, the box it was packed in was so big that the pomade bounced around and the cap came off. The top of the product formed a smooth "skin" but luckily the rest of the product was not affected, so I am glad that the whole bottle wasn;t dried up! This is no way reflection on the product, it is just one of those things that can happen in packing and distribution.

To start, full disclosure: I've only recently started putting a bit of effort into my hair, so I am by no means an expert. If you're looking for a meticulously detailed, connoisseur-like review, then this isn't the one for you! So this will be a pretty ground-level review from someone who's tried a few different products and enjoys Baxter's skincare products enough to figure their hair care products are bound to be worth a try. Prior to this I was using American Crew's fiber cream, and while that stuff worked just fine I really hated the tacky texture, and because of this it was all too easy to inadvertently tug on my hair while applying it, bringing my hand back down to find I'd pulled out a hair or two. Next! From here I went to Mister Pompadour's Moroccan Texture Paste, but it was a bit too lightweight. I'm not really sure how to describe my hair in detail, but it's a typical side-part, clippered on sides, longer on top and parted to the right, and I need a decent bit of hold because 1) I live in a particularly windy area and 2) I like driving with the windows down. And here we are with Baxter's Hard Cream Pomade. I knew that typical pomade wasn't quite what I wanted, seeing as I don't want my hair looking wet or really "done up" etc., and just wanting a relatively natural look with solid hold, but not to the point where it looks like I'm wearing a hair-shaped hat. Overall I'm very happy with the results. There's virtually no shine at all, applying the hard cream is a breeze (however it does start to dry out and become a bit tacky if you fuss with it for too long), the scent is subtle and pleasant (but unremarkable), and while I haven't finished off a jar yet, at the rate I've been going I can see a jar lasting me a pretty good amount of time. If I had to choose one complaint it'd be that I usually have to style my hair pretty quickly to avoid hitting that point where it tacks up and starts to pull, but if you apply this stuff while your hair is a bit damp you likely won't have this problem - otherwise you can either use more cream or just speed up your styling process. To be honest, when I picked this up I half expected to find it to be not-quite-right just like the others, but for me it's pretty close to perfect. I've also been using a sea salt spray prior to using this cream just to achieve a bit more of that natural look, but I don't feel that's necessary at all and this cream is doing the vast majority of the legwork in that regard. All-in-all I really enjoy this stuff, and will pretty surely be buying another jar when this one runs out.
