Reliable and super easy to install & activate
I can’t say enough about how well our Arlo products have performed for us. Our Google Nest doorbell quit after 2 years and I chose to replace it with Arlo doorbell and chime. The package arrived a day early. Installation and set up were very easy. There really aren’t any written directions because everything is done through easy to follow step by step instructions. I did have a question about the hardware and the pamphlet referred me to their support. It was a little difficult finding the answer I needed on the site but I did find the answer I needed. I saw in another review that people could not scan the QR code on the Arlo chime (purchased separately) and it is tiny. I took a photo of it, cropped it, airdropped it to my iPad and from there the chime picked it up easily. So far I love all of the features and the picture is great. Some people don’t like the optional support and cloud storage but I have it and it is well worth the price. Buy it. You will not regret it.

Clear, Reliable, and Easy-to-Use Video Doorbell
I recently purchased the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell, and it has exceeded my expectations! Video Quality: The HD video is crystal clear, day or night. I can see visitors at my door with excellent detail, and the wide-angle lens captures the entire porch area. Installation & Setup: Setup was quick and easy. The instructions are straightforward, and the doorbell paired with my Wi-Fi without any issues. Features & Functionality: Motion alerts, two-way audio, and app notifications work flawlessly. I love being able to communicate with visitors even when I’m not home. Durability & Design: The doorbell is sleek, weather-resistant, and built to last. It looks great on my front porch while providing reliable performance. Final Thoughts: If you want a high-quality, easy-to-install, and reliable video doorbell, the Arlo Essential is an excellent choice. Highly recommended for home security and peace of mind!

Didn't Realize How Many People Walked By Our Door!!
We have subscribed to the Arlo system for about three years and have been very pleased with it. I wanted a doorbell for the front door because staying primarily in the back of the house, we never know when someone approaches the front door. It was fairly easy to install, taking about 30 minutes. We did have a problem with the visitor hearing the voice at the other end (the home owner), but realized that you have to speak loudly and have your mouth close to the microphone on whichever device you are using. (The cameras have never worked with two-way talking). Our front porch is very close to the main road in our town. I was afraid that the doorbell would be triggered by the cars constantly going by, making the doorbell useless, but it doesn't see the cars, except on occasion. It does, however, pick up people walking the sidewalk in and out of town. It is much more responsive than our Arlo camera on the porch (pointed toward the front door, but includes the sidewalk). I think with the doorbell covering our porch, I will re-locate the porch camera to a much more useful location. We haven't had it long enough to reply about the battery life, which does seem to be a problem with the doorbell. I know the camera batterie life is really nice, lasting about 3 months. Most of ours have a constant power supply, but a couple have to have battery replacements. I will update when we have replaced/recharged the battery a few times. If you already have the Arlo system, I highly recommend the doorbell. We are planning on adding one to our side door and un-attached garage for the future.

Reliable, Smart, and Easy to Live With
I bought this because I already have several Arlo cameras around my house, and it has been a great addition. Video quality is good, detection is reliable, and it does a nice job recognizing when someone is at the door. It even detects packages and notifies me, which has saved deliveries from sitting out in the rain. Battery life has been solid, and when it does need charging, it is easy to remove and recharge. The doorbell notifications go to both my phone and my wife’s phone without issue. One important note is to make sure you buy the correct version. This one is battery operated. I originally bought the hardwired version and only realized after removing my old doorbell that I did not have the proper wiring. Overall, very pleased with the performance and reliability.

Terrible Software Overshadows Camera Quality
The product looks great when it works, but it rarely works. When it does, the features are disappointing at best. I am returning the product less than 38 days after initial purchase. The phone application claims the doorbell "appears offline" consistently. The doorbell itself will intermittently decide if that is actually true or not. More often than not, this doorbell would not notify me if someone attempted to ring me. Sometimes the application would claim the doorbell is offline but other than viewing the live stream, the doorbell would function perfectly (motion detection recordings and notification if the doorbell button was pressed). For reference, the doorbell is located less than one foot from my router directly on the opposite side of drywall. The motion detection and notification settings are simplistic and useless. The only options are simple on/off for specific categories (motion, person, vehicle, animal, package, access, temperature change, ect). This simplicity is exacerbated due to 99% of my notifications were detected as motion. It did not differentiate between "person," "animal," or "package." Notification and motion tracking settings are broken down into three modes, "arm away," "arm home," and "stand by." Motion tracking only functions on the "arm away" setting. This setting also will call your phone if the doorbell button is pressed. "Arm Home" will disable all motion tracking recordings and notifications. It will also disable the feature where you receive a phone call if the doorbell button is pressed. You will instead received a generic phone notification as if it were any other application. There are no options to change this. The battery life is awful. After charging the product to full before use, I ran down to 10% battery in the first 15 days. The problem with this product is that the software does not work. Review sites like cnet, nytimes, and security recommend this product based its camera quality. The camera quality is great, but that hardly matters when you can not access the camera. Even when you can access the camera it takes somewhere between 7 and 30 seconds to connect. The top thread of the Arlo subreddit is on the topic of replacing Arlo products. Do not waste your time with this company.

Excellent product
The Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free is a highly recommended option for those seeking a convenient and reliable wireless video doorbell. Its image quality and viewing angle are impressive, providing detailed footage and the ability to see the full length of someone at your door. With its sleek design and rechargeable battery, it is perfect for homes without an existing wired doorbell. The doorbell offers high-quality video footage and AI capabilities for motion detection alerts. It also comes with a three-month free trial of Arlo Smart, which includes cloud storage and advanced motion detection. However, some features require a subscription, and it cannot be used while being recharged. Overall, the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free is a reliable choice, especially for those with other Arlo devices.

It came at the king but missed
If I had never had another video doorbell cam, I would say this one is great. Unfortunately, I got this one for a relative already locked into the Arlo system as their other webcams are Arlo, so they wanted to keep with the theme. Reasons to get Arlo Doorbell: You already have their webcams and want to maintain everything in one App (Yep that is about it) Reasons to avoid Arlo Doorbell: While it has a great crisp picture, it isn't that wide. This can be a huge plus if you have a narrow entryway like my relative. It does capture more of the top and bottom of someone compared to Ring. So in that area, A plus. For most people though, they want a larger range of vision and Arlo falls flat there. Integration. While the tablet or phone app is excellent, Arlo doesn't play nice, at least with Google Nest Hubs. I've tried to connect it in every way, and it never works. I can get it to show the door, but it doesn't ring to the doorbell. Do you know what works the first time without issue? The Ring and Echo combination. I have yet to find an integration that works like Ring and the Echo Show. Speaking of integration, while I can leave it to my Echo shows to respond to the Ring doorbell going off, with the Arlo Doorbell, if my relative's phone is on vibrate or their tablet is off, someone ringing the doorbell won't know it isn't going anywhere. So you almost automatically have to shell out $50 bucks for the Arlo Doorbell chime. My relative resisted about 5 months before finally giving in and I just installed that. The other thing that really bothers me. The Doorbell can be hooked directly into the wi-fi (which limits storage but enough people have gotten into that issue) but in order to use the doorbell chime, it needs to be linked to an Arlo base station. So If you have the cameras already, it isn't a big deal. If you just get this front door cam and decide "Well i'd love to be able to hear this without my phone and I guess it would be nice to have it come up on my Google Hub but lol the integration doesn't work!" you would pick up the chime only to realize you need to spend even more money for the hub. Then you have to reset the doorbell off the wi-fi to the hub (ask me how i know!) and then link the doorbell to the same hub. God forbid you have a house big enough where you may have two Arlo hubs and want a doorbell on one hub and the doorbell on another. That is a big no no. All of this comes down to the fact that Arlo could have designed the entire system to work off wi-fi and instead decided to stay with a system that actively hobbles the customer and gives you no flexibility. A wi-fi set up with a mesh system would provide the most flexible arrangement. Instead we're forced to use these hubs. Somehow Ring is able to integrate their cameras and the echos over the wi-fi without an issue. So I can't really recommend the system for anyone unless you already are invested in the Arlo eco-system. While i'd probably recommend Ring first, there are certainly better options than Arlo no matter how you slice or dice it.

Great but no doorbell sound
Can connect to google home or Alexa and say someone is at the door but doesn’t ring inside needs a chime (bought separately) still love it though since it’s wired free ! Needs a subscription to enjoy fully videos (but free 3 months trial with purchase)

Arlo is not worth your money
My vehicle was stolen last night. Arlo was set up in prime viewing position, yet it constantly fails to continuously detect motion. It is so sporadic that it will detect a person crossing the street and next day decide it does not want to. Arlo is a horrible product and they have really cheaped on their designs. I could have caught the person who stole my car, as there was no reason the doorbell could not catch that. Arlo fail’s continuously. Get the other brands that are more reliable and also cheaper on the monthly subscription fees. Arlo, you’re a beginner in this field and you have a lot of catching up to do. Good luck cause you’re way behind.
