Being that this is a switching power supply, will this regulate voltage adequately for powering something that requires 5V at 2.5 amps?

I am using one to power a Raspberry Pi and assorted add-ons. Been in service a few months with no problems.

Can I run this at 6 vdc output ?

No. The Mean Well spec sheet for the MDR-20-5 indicates an operating voltage of 5vdc. There is a voltage adjustment screw on these units. The spec sheet indicated the voltage range is 4.75 - 5.5 vdc. If you purchase a 12 volt unit you can then use a DC-DC voltage converter to drop the voltage. These converters cost less than $15.00 and have a digital readout for ease of setting the needed voltage which is what I do for model railroad applications.

Will this run on north america 240v ac split phase l1-l2?

The input voltage range is 85~264VACm, it can not run on split phase ac Pls let me know if you have questions
