What size is an HO train in terms of inches or feet tall or length?

Hi Kellie an HO loco (Bachmann Thomas Etc) will run on OO track and there is not a great deal of difference in size between the two i have purchased the Bachmann Thomas and friends locos for my Grandson no problems at all .

I am planning to buy James. However will he be damaged in any way if I decide to physically push him (i.e. play with him like wooden trains)?

Yes. You can damage the coupling rods as well as the pick-ups and possiblly the wheels thenselves because he's not a O scale train like lionel or mth model trains where in which the locomotives' wheels can still turn even if there's no power on the track. James is HO scale and the wheels do not turn if they are not on metal electrically powered tracks.

The locos I bought are HO gauge which fit Hornby and bachmann track there is also a G scale Thomas and friends this is a very large s

This particular model of bachmann trains does NOT make steam. The eyes move and the drive wheels are pretty detailed.
