CND Shellac Gel Nail Polish, Long-lasting Nail Paint Color with Curve-hugging Brush, 132 Negligee, 0.25 fl oz

This is a UV cured 'gel' polish. Nice flat gray that just goes with everything. It will dress up beautifully with one or two layers of Silver VIP layered over it. Done properly, a CND Shellac will last 1-3 weeks. I have softer flexible nails - My nails need polish to keep from breaking and get longer. Acrylic kills my nails and if a salon does a generic 'off brand' gel polish, they often file my nails making them really damaged and weak. Before Shellac I gave up on polishing my nails unless for a special event because it would peel off in a day. I type a lot at work as well as boxing and packing stuff so I am tough on my hands. Shellac is the best system because it stays on but comes off easy WITHOUT any filing. It lasts me about 7-10 days on dark colors, because I chose to take it off when I can see growth at the cuticle. I'm a month in, have done multiple paints and removals...and my nails are healthier and stronger than they have ever been. My nails actually got TOO long for me.

I love this color. The CND Shellac technology is great. And yes, you must 'cure' this type of nail color/polish with a UV light. But it is totally worth the added cost and effort. It does not chip and it stays shiny (with the required top coat). It takes about 5 minutes to remove and does not damage the nail. This color is a very dark brown with a hint of maroon. I use it on my fingernails and it 'matches' enough with Essie's "Wicked" color. It is a fab color for the winter months. I think it may be a bit too much for summer and spring.

Normally when I do the Shellac process I use Negligee for my nails. It is not clear but translucent. I was looking for something that might be closer to clear and in reading the reviews thought this might actually be it. And so it is. While it does have a slight pink tinge to it going on, I find that when dried under the UV light it is quite clear with no pink tinge at all. It is perfect for what I wanted but if you are wanting it to show up pink you might be disappointed. I also believe that the coloration and texture of an individuals nails might make this show up more pink. In my case, it is totally clear.

This is a great system! I watched videos on Youtube and now have about 6 CND Shellac polishes. The Asphalt color is like wet shiny brand new asphalt. It is a dark gray with some green undertone on my skin. The key is thin coats and don't forget to cap the edges which really helps the longevity of the product. This polish on my second coat did bubble up a little on the edges but once you put the top coat on and cure under the uv lamp it cured into a high shiny and durable coat of polish. 4 stars for shine and color and durability. Love, love having 10 shiny, strong and beautiful nails. Does not damage the nail bed when you soak it off, the acetone breaks down the polymers so don't peel it off! It lasts about 10 days for me so that is why I gave it 4 stars versus 5 stars plus I like to change out the polishes! Also 4 stars because of the slight bubbling on some colors but as long as top coat evens it out i am a believer and an advocate of the whole system.

I am not a nail professional. I just bought the UV light and the shellac top, base & Fedora color. I watched videos before doing it and learned that this color HAS to be applied very thin. This is 1 of 2 colors (the other being a whitish color, I think they said it was called Cream Puff??) that will try to bubble or "shrink" when applied. What I mean by shrink is that even if you entirely cover the name and cap the end edges of the nail, you will see it retract from the nail edge and look as if you didn't put polish there. This DID happen to me, but after I applied the 2nd coat, it was not noticeable. So don't freak out, just continue with the rest of the process. As I said, I LOVE this color & do NOT regret buying it, but I wanted to pass on the information.

Upon getting Rouge Rite, it became my immediate favorite red. I tend to like all the red shades (Wildfire-this is darker, Masquerade-this has no shimmer, Rose Brocade-this is less 'pinkish') and this one is a deep red, almost Oxblood (I think the Oxblood shade by CND looks too brown to me) This was what I wanted when I tried the 'Oxblood shade' as it is darker than the ones mentioned, with no shimmer. Looks amazing on my pale skin, but I think it would look amazing on olive tones as well! This works well as a fall or winter shade, where Wildfire is more bright and almost summery.

I was looking for a denim color for my nails and this was perfect! The color is so pigmented and beautiful and the formula is just way better than any others I've tried. I remember nail techs telling me OPI or Gelish were better and maybe that was because they had a vendor relationship with those brands, because Shellac is so much better quality imo! I polish my nails and had way less mess up and used a lot less polish and it looked professionally done. I'm adding more Shellac polish to my stash. Love!

Color fine but I discovered it weakens my own nails too much. If you don't care what your real nails look like under inconsistently where the nail polish it would be fine.
