Enough power to reach 2nd story of structure?

No, the K5 is a light duty home unit. In order to reach a 2nd story you need a more powerful unit (perhaps 2400 psi and 2 gpm). With a more powerful unit, you could then attach either a 10-ft extension or use a sharper nozzle (0-degree); the K5 does not accommodate either attachments.

Can this be used with an extension cord? I only have one outside outlet at the back of my house.

Every outlet in your house is essentially an extension cord. The longer the wire from the power company's transformer, the lower the voltage getting to your motor. If your outside outlet is at the far end (away from your main panel) of a large house, you may have used up all the distance your allowed. If the outlet is 10 feet from your main, you could put a 50 ft #14 extension cord on it no problem. If you have a bit extra voltage in your lines, say 122 instead of 114 you can get by with longer cords of smaller wire. What will burn up your motor is insufficient voltage, i.e. long, lightweight extension cords. So what's the answer? Find out your voltage at the outlet you will be using, the minimum voltage the pressure washer needs and use an online voltage calculator to determine the size wire and length you need in the cord. Sorry - it's not a yes or no answer :-(
