Set in the 1950s, this half-hour situation comedy revolved around the friendship between bright-eyed, naive and demure Shirley Feeney and brassy, tough-talking, street smart Laverne De Fazio. Two bottle cappers for Shotz Brewery, the duo dated an array of questionable men, tolerated their dippy, loony neighbors Lenny and Squiggy, and forever pursued to "make all their dreams come true.]]0]]]]]]]]]]]]]] Review: You just can't beat Laverne and Shirley for light-hearted FUN! - Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley were in many ways a sitcom "team effort". If you liked one, you probably liked the other too. I've always felt that Laverne and Shirley started out GREAT, right from the very first episode, while Happy Days had a rather lack-luster first season. It's true that the characters in Happy Days may have been more realistic and varied, but what truly drives Laverne and Shirley is the chemistry between the two actresses (Williams and Marshall) and their nitwit friends, Lenny and Squiggy (Landers and McKean) Thankfully, we don't have to choose between the two series and can enjoy them both. But if I absolutely HAD to choose, something tells me that I wouldn't be able to resist the wacky charms of Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall. The girls really managed to create an atmosphere of TOTAL FUN, even when the plots or writing could have been a little stronger. I remember when...We laughed and rolled out of our chairs remembering the antics of all the characters. The show is classic and as relevant now as it was during its' heyday. No violence or inappropriate language-just plain good humor. It's a treat to watch a film with my grandchildren without feeling embarassed about its' content. I recommend this DVD to anyone who loves a good laugh.

We Love Laverne And Shirley!
Laverne and Shirley takes me back in time - I watched this show when I was little. It has a nostalgic feel for me in two ways - that I watched it when I was young, and also the 50's nostalgic feel to this show. A simpler happy time. My daughter loves this show. We've been waiting for it to come back on tv but no, so I went and bought the first three seasons for us to watch.

Fantastic Show, Fantastic Season
I can't tell you how thrilled I was to find out that all the seasons of this fabulous comedy were finally up for grabs. But I will tell you that I wasted no time in grabbing process. My only tiny complaint is that the fourth disk had numerous scratches that interfered with the viewing process on certain episodes. That's why it's got four stars, not five.

Totally RE-loving Laverne and Shirley!
I've read a few reviews about some episodes being cut. Since I don't clearly remember episodes from it's original run, I have nothing to really compare it to. I'll give it a 5-Star rating because the show itself is still fantastic. I'll take this type of comedy over any of the garbage on TV today. Even my 15 yr old son has gotten into these old shows. :)

Laughed and laughed
This is a really good show although there are a few painful episodes - the one where they're doing and Alice in Wonderland sketch is well... & the wrestling thing - what was that all about? But Laverne piloting is hysterical! & Lenny's friendship with Mrs. Garret's daughter is sweet.

More of that wonderful 70's humour that boomers enjoyed and miss. No swearing, no sex, just clever writing and enjoyable plots. Amazing how good the acting was back then when you really look at it.
