This device only works one way. If you forget, destinations are on the connectors for reminding. I'm going the opposite direction of many users with two monitors on one computer. I now have two computers on one monitor courtesy of this cable. One computer is a new Windows 11 system, while the other computer is a 10-year-old non-updatable Windows 10 system. The only reason for the old computer remaining is that it has the ability for CD games that don't work on the new computer (not even with an optical drive). Thanks, Benfei for making this possible.

I have an old HP laptop with only a VGA out port for an external monitor. My new TCL Roku 32" TV had only composite or HDMI video in ports so I had to find a way to connect the laptop's VGA port to my TV's HDMI in port. I tried an old VGA to VGA cable with a VGA to HDMI adapter on the end. It did NOT work. So I found this adapter with good reviews and an apparently needed built in conversion chip and ordered it. It was simple to install, with a separate cable from the adapter box to a USB 2.0 port on the laptop to provide power to the adapter box with the chip in it. My HP laptop has buttons to press to send the laptop video signal to an external monitor/TV and I clicked them. I plugged both ends of the video cable in, and then had to select the HDMI1 port as the "channel" in the Roku user interface, and voila, it immediately showed the screen view that was on my laptop, and the audio output had switched from my laptop to the TV speakers. Next, I was seeing the same Windows scene on both screens. Since I wanted to EXTEND the single laptop window to TWO separate screens, I had to go to the Windows settings to set the display to extend. Usually, you can go to the Windows desktop and do a right click to see the display settings, but it did not work this time, so I had to go through the settings menus. I was then able to see my main Windows view with tabs on my laptop, and drag a tab to the TV for it to act as a separate monitor. The result is like I use on another PC with external 32" monitor, I was able to view a running YouTube video on the larger TV screen, and take notes in Evernote on the laptop. So, this product WORKED in connecting a VGA only video output to an HDMI input on a TV, and was fairly easy to install. The biggest issue if you want an expanded window to show TWO separate screens, you have to know how to configure your laptop to NOT repeat the laptop screen on the TV, but to expand it to use the TV as a second and different window.

My older computer has only VGA output, but the TV I use as a monitor doesn't have VGA input. This adapter is perfect for making the transition to a monitor that is large enough to see easily (the TV). The signal quality is very good.

Works great. Connected a simple laptop to a big ol' TV. The vga delivers the video and the usb delivers the sound.

J’ai acheté ce câble BENFEI pour connecter mon ancien PC avec port VGA à un écran HDMI, et il fait parfaitement le job en Full HD sans lag. L’ajout de l’audio via USB est un vrai plus pour avoir le son directement sur l’écran ou le téléviseur. Les contacts plaqués or semblent solides et la qualité de fabrication est correcte pour le prix. Je recommande pour une solution simple et efficace entre VGA et HDMI.
