one tube is brighter than the other

I believe, that, is not uncommon. As long as both speakers are working, I believe, you are okay. For instance, my two tubes are not equally as bright. But, the sound is great. Don't go looking for problems that don't exist!

will this tube work with the dark voice

It does. I swapped out both tubes at the same time so I cant say how much this one is responsible for the quality improvement, but it certainly helped. Stock tubes we're pretty awful. DV336se.
