What is the size of the individual slats? I'm purchasing it for In Remembrance and want to put a custom plate on the top back slat.

The bench is 38 inches long; each slat or board on the back is 2 1/4 inches wide. I love the bench for children and smaller adults. An adult who is 6ft tall and 180 lbs or more might not like it and might even break it.
