Would these be good for a 9 month old? I realize they say 36months but I'm not seeing any other brand of magnets for babies

Yes! I put them low on the side of the fridge and my son sat on the floor there to play with them while I did stuff in the kitchen. Great buy for a 9 month old!

Is the whole back covered in a magnet or is it just a small button magnet glued on?

The entire piece is a magnet with glued on paper pictures. I would have to say at least 5 pictures have now come off. If your child likes to put things in their mouth wait a while for these.

Are the tops covered in paper?

No, it seems they are almost painted or printed on the wood. Really good quality and my 17 month old loves them!

Do these magnets stick to each other? My son likes to pull them apart.

They do not stick to each other. I purchased a large magnetic bulletin board to rest against the wall, rather than having her play in front of the refrigerator. This seems to keep her engaged.

Good for keeping baby occupied while I’m busy in the kitchen. He would spend time trying to get the magnets off the fridge, and I’m also using it to try and teach him about animal names and sounds, also a good tool to go with singing songs about animals. Material wise- no sharp edges or small pieces to worry about with regards to choking.. very safe and suitable for babies.
