This shave kit is awesome and is everything I could've wanted. I love going to the barber and getting a great straight razor shave but A)sometimes the barber rushes and I'm unhappy B)I can only do it every so often and C) the cost of a good shave and cut can get expensive when added up I've tried the Gentleman Jon Alum block in the past and I liked it a lot. It was cheaper than a lot of the others out there and worked better - so I figured I would give this a try as well.... Also, considering it's the same cost as I pay to go to a barber for one cut/shave - I figured why not.. if it sucks, no biggie, I've paid more at a barber for something I've had to come home and fix anyway... Man, am I glad I bought this kit. It has everything I could ever need (It comes with a straight razor (and blades), shave brush and bowl, alum block, soap AND DIRECTIONS!!) At first I was a little intimidated by the idea of using a straight razor at home but after opening this kit up and READING THE DIRECTIONS (do this gents... I promise, it helps. I know, I know, none of us need directions... but take my word for it on this one) - shaving has become something I look forward to rather than dread. I actually find myself wanting to continue to shave and have started to use the razor to touch up the back of my hairline/neck in addition to shaving my face. The instructions explain how to split the blade and properly insert it into the razor. Once you've got that figured out, it's a breeze. The first time or two - I nicked myself after getting a little too confident but now I've got it down. It's the smoothest and most enjoyable shave you can get and it's actually calming vs bothersome. The overall quality is great. The razor feels sturdy, not cheap and it's showing no signs of wear. I've bought quite a few different men's grooming products and Gentelman Jon products are better than a lot of other shaving brands I've used (and paid more money for) in the past. You cannot beat the quality for the cost. This kit also comes in a great little box that looks good - I plan on gifting these to my father and father in law. Would make amazing groomsmen, boyfriend, fiance, husband, father gifts as well.

Great shaving kit. Everything youd ever need and easy to use. Only flaw is the brush looses brissles fast but thats any cheaper end brush.

The Gentleman Jon Straight Razor Shaving Kit is an excellent-quality product overall. The included blades are extremely sharp and provide a very close, clean shave. The metal bowl is a good size for the shaving cream puck and feels sturdy and well made. The shaving puck itself lathers easily and has a delightful scent, which adds to the overall experience. Everything in the kit feels thoughtfully selected and geared toward a traditional wet shave. My only issue is with the straight razor’s blade grip. The pinching mechanism that holds the razor blade can slip, causing one side of the razor to shift past the edge of the blade. This requires extra attention during setup and detracts slightly from what is otherwise a great kit. Overall, despite this flaw, it’s an excellent shaving kit that delivers high-quality results and would be a solid choice for anyone interested in straight razor shaving.

I bought this set for my husband’s birthday. He has always wanted a straight saver. This set is perfect for a beginner. The instructions are clear/easy to understand. I shaved his beard first (just to test the sharpness of the blades). They cut well, w/o being too sharp. The shave bar had a clean, crisp sent w/o being too overwhelming. I felt the save foam dried a bit fast but that could be because I did not add enough water to it. Overall, I and my husband are extremely impressed!!!

My partner’s first straight razor kit! I got him it as a gift, since he’d been talking about wanting to learn. He learned with the kit’s guide & only uses the straight razor now. Great gift or way to teach yourself!

This razor kit at first wasn't what I expected, I thought the shave bowl was going to be too small. The bowl provides just the right amount of lather for a single shave, which is great. I have been looking for good quality in a shave like the old barber style of shave. After a month of using this product I have to say I found exactly that. It has turned my shaving routine into an enjoyable part ofy morning now. You get that old school comfortable shave even if you have no experience in using a straight razor. The kit is easy to use and is lather is designed to be has watery or foamy as you like. The razor is very good and leaves you smoother than ever. The shave bar provides a good lather and doesn't hide your face so you can see exactly where your shaving. The blades themselves are of good quality and takes the fear out of cutting yourself. The alum bar leaves your face not feeling dry but exfoliated. I recommend this product for yourself or as a gift.
