Would kids age 8-9 enjoy this game?

Absolutely! It’s a great game for all ages as the kids can be as detailed in their pantomimes as they are able. Also great for mixed ages. We had a 4, 7, 8, and 11year old all playing together, along with the adults. You should definitely get it.

Does a kid need to be able to read to play? Wondering if we could play with our preschooler.

No. You can read the words for them. It’s really easy to modify the game to match the abilities of different kids. The older kids had fun acting out the 3 words/phrases together while the 3 year old only managed to do 2 at a time, or act out each one separately. Our best games involved 3, 6, 7, 30-somethings, and 60-ish players!

I have this game but not the instruction cards-- how does the scoring work/ what are the stars for?

The stars are for scoring. After a player has acted out their pantomime the other players, or a “judge” award stars for their performance. We don’t pay a whole lot of attention to them. The kids use them explain how well they thought the player had performed each of the parts of their pantomime. I don’t think we’ve ever counted stars at the end of the game.

Is this game like charades, where people guess what you are acting, or you just do it for the fun of it?

Yes, it's similar to charades. I use it in my classroom with 2nd graders. There is a Who card (ie. dinosaur), What card (ie. sandwich), and How spinner (ie. slow motion). Someone does the acting and the others guess Who they are and What they're doing.

Perfect for young children!

This game used to be called Obstacles. I played with my own kids and now play with my Pre-K classroom. It’s open ended and helps kids be creative problem solvers. Fun and no “winners” so no fighting!

A Game for Garden Lovers

As an adult board game collector I absolutely love this game. The illustrations are whimsical and charming and the cardboard pieces are so durable and sturdy for tiny hands and hours of play. Perfect for Springtime or Easter. I especially love the card pieces

Cute, quick, and easy
