April Update: So I got these in January and now about 4 months later, I need to buy new skates. Don't get me wrong, these are still great skates, but as a beginner I didn't really know what a perfect fit was and these are actually a little too big. In addition to that, they don't hold up well for pivots or any trick work that you need your toe pick for. My toe pick keeps slipping on the ice. My coach looked at the blades and told me I'd need new skates with thicker blades and better toe picks if I wanted to progress beyond LTS Basic 4. If anyone was wondering about the sturdiness of the plastic hooks, they are still going strong and I lace my skates TIGHT. UPDATE 1: I walked around in these when I got my blade guards and they were a perfect fit. I sprained my ankle shortly after (not skating) so I haven't actually gotten to try them on the ice. However, I also bought a pair for my son as a birthday present and he loves them. We got them sharpened before his first time out on them and they've been a dream. The plastic hooks at the top of the skate have been just fine and are very sturdy. I expect theyll hold up pretty well over time. One nitpicky observation i have is that the hook openings are quite narrow, so its not easy to get the included laces to sit nicely within the hook. You kind of have to "clip" them in. The only real flaw I've noted is that my skates (size 9) had great laces (good length and good quality), his skates (size 7) are so short that we can barely tie them, even after tightening them as far as we can. He's been out on with them 3 times and we definitely need to pick up new laces or else I'm going to break my hands trying to tighten them enough to get a loop from them. Original review: I'm in love with these. I just got them today and my guards don't get here until tomorrow, so I haven't started breaking them in yet. I followed the sizing guide exactly and the fit pretty well. Very comfy. I MIGHT buy them again a size smaller after I try them on the ice because they are a little on the wide side, but honestly, I don't think it will be a problem. They look so pretty and they feel very sturdy. As others have said, the hooks are plastic, but they feel very sturdy. I was more concerned about the velcro strap, but it hold super well. I'm going to get the blades sharpened on Saturday before taking them on the rink for the first time. I'm absolutely besotted.

Riedell’s sizing advice is seemingly flawed. I did the outline they mentioned and ordered accordingly. The skates were way too small. I initially ordered 10. Tried 11 and comfortably and snugly ended up in a size 12. The skates seem great. They are currently in my local pro shop getting sharpened. I can’t wait to get out on the ice in them.

Love them. So glad I finally got them, so excited, can’t wait to get on the ice! So glad I followed the reviews though because if I had followed the chart I would have ordered a 6 and they definitely would have been too small. I wear a UK 4, EU37, US 6,5 shoe and this 7 is just perfect. Warm inside and feel like they will be comfy. Another review did say bulky and they are a tad but I still think they’re perfect & beautiful. One last thing: I had take another look at them because THE LOOKS OF ADMIRATION that I got from my fellow skaters had me shook, I was so surprised how many compliments I got on them. I thought they were pretty cute, evidently I was wrong - they are show stoppers. Thank you Amazon for my beautiful skates!!!

I’m new to ice skating and these skates are working very well! I’ll be pond skating only so the terrain is less than perfect! They are stable, warm, and the fit was spot in. I ordered my exact size. Now again, I’m new to ice skating so I don’t have any idea what I’m talking about. I do notice that my ankle/shin has pretty much no movement and maybe that’s on purpose or maybe they need to break in. I really don’t know- it doesn’t bother me but I’d say it makes my shins tired. I’ve roller bladed a lot as a kid and the fit feels similar. This winters temps are cold enough that we were able to make a homemade rink on our pond. It has lots of random ridges and imperfections but the skates seem to cut right through. I would buy these skates again. They are also REALLY pretty especially for outside skating.

Real nice skates for a recreational skater. Skates do not come sharpened properly so be sure to take them in to get sharpened. I can skate for a couple hours and my feet don't complain at all. Comfy

I just opened these skates today and the blades have rust and scratches on them! I had ordered new skates so I’m not sure why they would have rust. It’s not one little spot but the rust is all over the blade on the right. I’m sad about this. Update: I ordered a replacement and the replacement skates also arrived used! There are scuff marks on the boots and rust on the blades. I haven’t even put them on. Not cool! Update 2: I treated the blades for the rust, even though they never should have arrived rusted when I had ordered and paid for new skates. I have now used the skates and they’re comfortable. They’re a nice skate so I added two stars. They really shouldn’t have arrived used though.

First time buyer of ice skates. In street shoes I wear an 8.5 in women’s or 7.5 in men’s. My feet are more so flat than wide. I got a size 8 and the skates fit snug but not too snug. Took them out to the rink immediately, the skates come delivered sharpened but they recommend getting them sharpened. I had no issues and did not immediately sharpen. My ankles feel very supported and warm with the little fuzzy insides by the ankles. I love the laces and the Velcro. Overall great purchase.

Loooove my ice skates! I followed the instructions to get an accurate size, and it totally worked. Perfect sizing, extremely comfortable, and really beautiful.

Bought these for my husband as he wanted to try recreational figure skating. The recommendation to measure your foot and use that for the sizing is very accurate. I originally went with his regular shoe size, and was way off. So, before buying, be sure to stencil the foot, measure and then purchase according to the sizing guide. Great skates!
