I’ve used Fucothin when it originally came out from Garden Of Life. Back around 2008 it was very costly but it seemed to help me with my weight and health. I just tried it again back in July/August while I started a diet to lose 10 lbs, lowering my carbs and gluten, and increasing my protein. Somehow it does seem to reduce my hunger and keeps me from snacking. The weight started to come off at about a pound a week. I ran out in September and I gained a little weight back. So I just bought another value size bottle and put it on auto shipping. It makes my dieting easier and more consistent. I have also recently read up on the heart and circulatory benefits of Fucoxanthin so I plan to continually use it after the diet at a maintenance level. There are so many health benefits from fucoxanthin that it would be too many to list. I consider this an exotic supplement here because it’s not in our diet on the western hemisphere but it’s in the eastern diet with the consumption of seaweed going back thousands of years.

*update at bottom* I have been using fucothin for 6 weeks now, along with working out 6 days/wk for 1hour & 1500 calories. I started taking 1 pill at each meal & slowly worked up to 3 at each meal now. I am also taking Garden of Life's Diet360 30 minutes before meals... about 10 days into this regimen I had already dropped a couple pounds but, I noticed consistent muscle spasms/twitches in the back of my right thigh that fire off maybe twice an hour. And a few in my left arm every now & then. Not sure if it's due to spine issues (known to cause muscle spasms) or these products but thought I'd put that out there in case anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Nonetheless, it's not stopping me from taking the products. I am losing about 2-3lbs a week & I think this product is totally boosting my weight loss. I totally trust Garden of Life products & their quality & research. And i firmly believe these products boost your weight loss, which spurs you on to keep sticking it to losing weight. I plan to use these products for 6months... i will update my review if anything new or unusual happens. *UPDATE* started a new batch of fucothin & my muscle spasms are pretty non existent... so I must've had a strong batch. now, before i go to bed i can feel my muscles slightly twitching, but not firing off like the other batch. I did a little research into fucothin & discovered it creates a "shivering" effect on the muscles, which explains the twitching. Weight loss is still successful as noted before, so I won't stop taking this product.

I am not the kind to stop and write a review, but I felt this was a warranted case. Over the course of 6 years or so now I have steadily gained pounds until I fall into the "obese" category. For whatever reasons, stress, emotions...whatever, I went from a size 5 to a size 12-14. I am active, and the weight has been a problem. I had searched several alternatives in a weight loss supplement and found this item at a Whole Foods Store. I purchased my first bottle there and have been taking Fucothin for about 5 months. (For my backstory you need to know this)For Christmas of 09(more like January 10) I purchased a Wii for my mom as a gift. She uses it for the step programs and together we track our weight goals. In honestly I hadn't even gotten on it in several months(since about the time I started Fucothin), summer for me means outdoor activities. To make this long story shorter, I got on the Wii and found to my pleasant surprise that I have lost over 20 lbs over the course of these 4-5 months. Thats not alot each month but I am satisfied since that falls under healthy weight loss. My diet has always been fairly healthy except for the coffee/soda intake. I haven't had any issues with an odor in my urine, however even though I drink coffee and soda I also drink lots of water to keep myself hydrated. I am taking 8 capsules once a day, since I don't have time to space them out. I have no jitters, no digestive issues, and no other effects other than the slow steady weight loss. My physical exam this year came out clean with great results other than the weight that I am working on. I am sure everyone gets different results from this product but these are mine.

September 13th, 2010: Fucothin arrived today in the mail. Incredibly fast shipping! Am giving 3 stars because I don't know if this supplement helps or not yet since I've only taken one capsule so far. The first impression is good and I want to share it with readers here. The capsule is small which is a relief because I dread large capsules or pills. The shape is designed for easy swallowing. Will update review when I know if Fucothin has been beneficial or not. September 22nd, 2010: Over the weekend I slipped on my jean mini skirt. Imagine my delight when it rested loosely on my hips! A few weeks ago the skirt was depressingly tight. I took a step back and looked with amazement in the mirror when I saw my legs also looked slimmer. All summer my legs were puffed up unattractively in an unnatural way. My shorter skirts simply did not look as good. My weight had not gone up and this change had me unhappily perplexed. What I think FucoThin does is flush the body of toxins it's holding onto. I have not lost any weight on the scale but certainly I feel and look slimmer which is good enough for me! The stars have been raised to 4 on this review and will give another update as I continue to take FucoThin. November 6th: There is nothing new to report about my experience with Fucothin. I will likely not repurchase it though.

As many of us know, herbal medicine is STILL medicine. Not every "natural product" is good for every person or condition. We would not take statins for cancer any more than we would use Chemo for plantar warts. Brown seaweed has been studied a bit and proven effective in radiation poisoning. Many studies are underway and are inconclusive for lack of more data when it comes to using seaweed for wieght loss and other issues. Side effects are not documented or understood fully, and dosing is not understood well. I chose seaweed because of the purported anti oxidant effects, because it is a non stimulan. I chose fucothin because GOL told me that there are roughly 30 mcg of iodine in one serving. Brown seaweed seemed to best fit the profile for what I was looking for in a suppliment. I had no unpleasant side effects -(some dry mouth and thirst) until I experienced watery stool and then after 8 days of taking it (working myself up to 4-5 pills per day) I was taken to the ER in an ambulance with hypotension and near syncopy. This was a result, it is thought of severe dehydration. The only new thing in my life is the fucothin. Brown seweed is a powerful medication . If one does not have the disease which needs to be cured by it, or doses incorrectly, there are consequences. I am not sure if I dosed for ME incorrectly, or this is not a natural medication which addresses my issues the way I thought it might...but either way- a trip in an ambulance, missing work, and being critically ill is something to consider - be careful of dehydrating on this product - be careful because it's not completely honest about ALL of the ingredients (does not publish iodine content) - mind that it addresses your personal medical concerns, not just the fantasy of losing weight more easily.
