Designed very well, and works very well. Very happy.
After reading many reviews of this item, it was the review of the soldier who used it when deployed for many months that pushed me to make the purchase. I figured if it worked well in the field for such a prolonged period for him, then it would probably suit my needs just fine. I'm not disappointed. Easy to inflate (took me just 8 big breaths. And the interlocking hexagon pattern allows enough pillow pockets interspersed with enough empty spaces to offer a nice consistent cushion effect across the mat. Yes, it is not thick like a 2" air mattress. But I was after something lightweight and compact for hiking/camping. And it is perfectly comfortable despite it's think size. Even during times when I turned on my side during the night I did not feel my hips digging into the ground. So, I'm impressed with this little lightweight mat, and how comfortable it is. For reference, I'm a man who weighs 200 lbs. And it stayed inflated for the 3 days I tested it out (have only had it camping once so far but will use it again a few times this summer) without losing any air. And it has only one valve for inflation/deflation, but I have to admire the clever simplicity of it. There is a simple rubberized flange inside the hole, so when you blow air into it, it opens of its own accord to let in the air, and by the same token it promptly flaps shut once you stop pumping air in, and the air already inside is held tightly. Deflation is simple enough, just poke in the flange and the air escapes quickly enough as you roll it up. Someone thought out the design of this mat very well. No complaints at all here. For such a small kit it does a very good job, punching above its weight so to speak. And yes, it will certainly fit inside your bag (I have a compact, mummy type bag, and it fit fine. But on the second night I preferred to put it outside and lay my bag on top of the mat - only because I'm a hot sleeper and often want to shift around and push off the covering, but with the mat inside my bag it left little room for shifting around (so I really did feel like a mummy at times). Outside and under my bag was more comfortable for me, as it freed up all the room inside my bag for shifting positions if I wanted to, and a little more airflow around me. The outside of my bag is synthetic material, but I did not experience any problem in 'slipping off' the sleeping mat. Would definitely recommend. The other campers I was with were using self-inflating mats, and were having many frustrations, still having to blow air into them to get them to full capacity anyhow. So this definitely seemed like a simpler, more practical, and more lightweight solution. Glad I chose this type.

100% worth every cent you spend
As a hammock camper there is always a huge problem with losing heat beneath you due to the open air and compression of your sleeping bag. A lot of campers use a foam mat to prevent the heat loss, so I decided to try an inflatable air mat, and it worked beautifully!Starting from the top:-Inflation is super quick and easy with a one way valve, less than a minute and this bad boy is ready to take me away to Dreamland so I can recharge to tackle the next day.-when set inside my hammock, this helps keep the shape of the hammock so it doesn't cocoon around my body as much as it normally would. This is good, I enjoy looking at the stars and having visibility of any super ninja Pennsylvanian black bears that may be trying to sneak up and eat my man flesh!-One slight problem is that if I fidget, the mat may slide out from under me ever so slightly, but my hammock doesn't include a mat insert, and this mat doesn't boast that it won't slip, so it retains it's five star rating.-This insulates the hammock as I wished it did. I don't even think it boasts that anywhere in the item description, but it does it fabulously.-Deflation is super easy -- Open the valve and most of the air escapes, poke the valve in a little bit to prop it open, fold the sides in towards the middle, roll from the toe to the head, and the remaining air effortlessly eacapes. The included stuff sack then holds this bad boy in place in my bag so I don't have to worry about it taking up extra room and messing with the packing methods I employ. One additional pro to purchasing this, is that it comes with a patch, just in case.Overall, 5/5 would recommend this. I actually already have to my brother! Definitely worth every dollar I spent, which isn't a lot!

High quality and very comfortable
I've just got back from a two night distance trek in the Scottish Highlands, where I used this air mat for the first time. Going from a standard foam roll mat to this is like going from the ground to a hotel bed!Pros:- packs very small and light, fitting into the bag instead of having to be clipped to the outside- incredibly comfortable- I could even lay on my side and not feel the ground- very easy to inflate, took me around 9 breaths- great size- I'm 193cm and easily fit into this- packs away easily, especially if you follow the natural creases created from packaging (e.g. fold four times into itself)- high quality: i was worried it'd be a one hit wonder and deflate, but the mat kept it's inflation all night and seems to be made of very high quality material/stitching/glueCons- nothing except you can maybe feel the inflation socket when you rest your head on the top- easily rectified by using a pillow or even just resting your head on a jumpervery happy with this
