I have been in the costume industry for over 25 years. This book includes a vast amount of information in an easy step by step format. It makes navigating Corel Painter so much easier than I ever imagined. I also took Annie's Master Class on Digital Rendering that uses this book as a reference guide.I highly recommend this book for students as well professionals in costume and scenic design. My focus of work is now oncreating embossing patterns for trims, appliqués, and textiles. This book has helped me cut the time it takes to develop a patterneasily in half.We can all be purest, when time allows, and draw by hand, but when you are in a crunch situation an you need toproduce work quickly it is great to have Digital Costume Design & Rendering in your toolbox and skill set.

This book is a great manual for every costume designer who wants to learn how to create projects, using digital media. From the teaching perspective, it is just great. You will find step-by-step instructions, how to create a costume designs, using Painter and Photoshop. Also, there is a chapter about making a digital make up.Personally I'd like to see more works of author, or just more artworks, as illustration. But it can not diminish the value of the book. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to learn digital costume design.Big thanks and respect to author.

!!!Amazing book! Annie is so wonderful in her projects and descriptions of how to use Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop for rendering costumes and scenery. This book is wonderfully written and easy to follow. With the purchase of the book comes a password to a website where you can download all the images needed to complete the projects. It's best if you have a Wacom or other sensitized stylus tablet but I was able to do a lot with just my mouse before my tablet came in. This would be an excellent text book for a rendering techniques class. Thanks Annie!

Wonderful book! Very simple, clear, concise, and easy to follow. It contains a great deal of full-color illustrations with which to follow along. Focus is on teaching Corel Painter techniques, but it also offers information about Adobe Photoshop.

This book was the perfect gift for a "classically" trained fashion designer, who needed guidance on the technical computer aspects required for today's costume design. Talk about form and function! This book is a must, for all who demand to bring their design savvy to the next level.

This book is great if you have corel and don't know how to use it or want to learn corel for rendering.

This is an Amazing book! If you are a costume or fashion designer who wants to learn to render on a computer, this is a wonderful text. It focuses on Corel Painter, but also talks about Photoshop as well. There are tips and tricks about rendering costume sketches, making patterns, shading, lots of tips on how to get things done fast &make your renderings very professional looking. In the live theatre world Costume designers are always pressed for time and quick turnaround. Ms. Cleveland's text is extremely at teaching how to render Costume designs on the computer in a logical, user friendly way. She does not presuppose that the reader has a lot of experience and already is familiar with the programs, which a lot of other texts do.You can skip around in the book and work on techniques and tools you choose, or you can follow it from the beginning Using her instruction and lessons that build each upon the other. Lots of illustrations help clarify the instruction, and there is even a website to accompany the text where people can post their work and new ideas and tips and tricks users may find and wish to share. This book is so worth the money.
