We love Redcon MRE RTDs. The chocolate flavor is exceptional. Much better than any other chocolate protein shake I've tried. The protein profile is solid, it used to be a bit broader, then they narrowed it down a bit. 40g of protein per bottle is great. No GI issues, great consistency, and if you get the older cuboid shaped containers, they're easy to open. The newer bottles are a pain to peel off the plastic wrapping before unscrewing the lid. There is no perforation. We always have to use a knife.

First of all - the taste (I only have the chocolate one so keep that in mind). A lot of other protein drinks, ESPECIALLY those that are whey-free and use alternative proteins like pea protein, have a very noticeably bitter and "medicine-like" aftertaste. With these, that is nowhere to be found. The drink tastes pretty much exactly like the chocolate milk I'd get back in elementary and middle school. For a pre-made protein shake, I find that pretty impressive. Now, in terms of the value, I find that this is at a really sweet spot. At the price I can get these, it comes out to about 7.5 cents per gram of protein. When you compare this to protein powders, this is of course more expensive (some of the powders come out to about 4.5 cents per gram of protein), but when you compare this to other pre-made protein shakes, this is actually a fair bit cheaper. There are likely a few others that may be cheaper, but many of them are not as highly-rated or tested as these ones. In addition, these drinks have a whopping 40 grams of protein per drink, which I've certainly found to be more convenient. All in all, I think if you're in the market for a pre-made protein drink (that is to say, you're already aware that you're going to be spending more for the protein than a protein powder), this option is really hard to beat.

Got here really fast. At first sip, I wasn’t sold, but the more I drank it, the more I found myself liking it. I’ve been mixing it with my other superfood powders, and it tastes pretty amazing—just the right texture and flavor blend. Overall, this one turned out to be a nice surprise—and a great value at that!

As a Masters-level athlete, I love REDCON1 MRE Ready-to-Drink Protein Shakes! They are pretty convenient, taste great, and contain a high level of concentrated protein—a really nice supplement to support my training. This said, I do have to remind myself they should still be used as a supplement--not a full on meal--ie. they can be filling. I'll often use them after a meal, and then only drink half of one as a substitute for dessert. Note: they do contain gum blends, cellulose blends, and sunflower oil, so keep that in mind if it’s a concern. Cheers!

Usually, the chocolate protein tastes really good. However, this batch expiring on May 7th, 2025, tastes horrendous, and something is up with it. I have other batches that still taste great, and when comparing them side by side, I noticed the printing on the May 7th, 2025 batch looks a little different too. I think a different supplier put these together, and that's why they taste weird. Please stop working with them and stick with the great-tasting one if possible.
