It CAN be used to tint lacquer!
To answer my own question, and for anyone else who may be wondering, yes, you can use this to tint solvent based lacquer. I tinted nitrocellulose lacquer with this because I got tired of spending $30 on a 2 oz. Bottle of the other stuff available for guitars. Some things to note: test it first. The tint appears very different in lacquer. When first mixed, it looked magenta/orange, but it dries closer to the intended color. Use pipettes to transfer dye a few drops at a time until you get the color you're after. Also, use thinner. It helps keep the color true. I ended up using a 50/50 thinner/lacquer mix with less than 1 oz. Of tint. This yielded approx 1 liter of tinted lacquer. Layer for added color depth. 3 to 4 coats turned out almost identical to the traditional colortone cherry I was going for. I'm very happy with the results, and I ordered a bunch more colors from Angelus' website. What would have cost me over $200 from luthier suppliers I got for less than $50. Go to angelus direct website and see for yourself! One more thing..... you'll want to wear nitrile gloves, use pipettes to transfer the dye, and cap the bottle immediately to avoid spills. Spills are more of a mess than you want to deal with. Ask me how I know.

Great product
Definitely a learning curve, however the Oxblood came out better than expect. I though it was going to be darker but it still looks great!

Ditch the wand
I bought this products because I recently purchased some previously owned doc martens. the shoes weren't in very bad condition just a some scuffs at the toe box but I typically am not a fan of doc martens burgundy color it's a little too red and cartoony and I prefer oxblood burgundy over a bright pinkish shoe burgundy that doc martens have. I found a tutorial online that shows how to tell your doc martens and I followed it. The person use this specific dye. I've colored boots before specifically my Palladiums with fieblings and had success. I found the star to be very streaky. no matter what it just came out streaky as heck even when going in a circular motion. I googled online and a lot of people said when dying you should use a big cloth to avoid streaks. I used a cut and half kitchen sponge and that seems to get the job done. the boots are still slightly streaky but not as bad as when I was using the circular cotton ball wand that it came with. my advice would be is to ditch the wand it comes with get yourself a sponge or a cloth that is big.

Crazy color, crazy rub off
Oxblood makes the leather a deep, dark red color that I was looking for on my project. However, it stains everything and anything, so make sure to wear gloves. After 24 hours, it had crazy amounts of red color rub off onto my skin, despite being completely dry. I hope leather conditioner helps calm this beast.
