Which is how I stumbled upon this awesome little hut (it popped up in the suggested items ...
I have been on the hunt for a more natural cave/decoration for my betta tank since getting rid of most of my ornaments due to paint chipping/flaking. I was also have issues with the ornaments snagging and ripping my EE's fins. :(I originally wanted driftwood, but my tank is on the small side (3 gallons) and it was difficult to find a piece that would fit. Which is how I stumbled upon this awesome little hut (it popped up in the suggested items list as I was looking through driftwood pieces). After reading through some of the reviews and doing a bit of research on my own, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. Even though I knew there was a risk of it being either too small or too large. Turns out, it was just the right size and Robin absolutely loves it!I did end up filing down the edges of the hut with a nail file because they were rather sharp. Not a big deal though. I also scrubbed it under hot water with a non used toothbrush to get rid of some of the dirt and smooth the surface a bit. I will say that since I didn't soak it first, it did tint my water a dark brownish color, which I love. Although I realize some people might not like it. I personally prefer a darker tinted water and often have a couple of Indian Almond leave floating in my tank for that reason - it also has many health benefits. It is a perfect fit for my 3 gallon and I absolutely LOVE it and so does Robin.I will most likely be ordering this again for my 5 gallon once it's been cycled.

Runt Coconut Replaced By Larger Cousin Coconut
I am returning the Coco Hut I received because the dimensions are wrong. I don't usually go around measuring things I order, but it was so small it would not be usable for my Betta fish. It measured three inches wide and barely two inches high. It was more like a coconut yarmulke. I am going to reorder this product, and if it is the right dimensions the second go-around, I will leave an updated review.UPDATED REVIEW: I easily returned my coconut yarmulke and ordered a replacement. The replacement is actually bigger than advertised, which is just fine with me. Cons: Obviously, the advertised size is not the most accurate, so you may have to return and reorder your coconut. The other con is that despite boiling the hut multiple times, it is turning the tank water yellow/brown. This is might be due to a combination of the many plants AND the coconut. I figure it will eventually stop tinting the water. Pros: The replacement is the perfect size. It provides a hiding spot for my Betta when he gets sick of seeing me in my underwear or he when he wants to take a nap in the dark while I have a twenty lights on in my bedroom at 4am. I like it and I think it's growing on him.

the hut provides a nice hiding spot for my beta even though he is ...
The hut is cute and now the mid-focal point of my tank. I placed a live plant stem through the hole on the top of the hut. Since I have introduced it to my tank, there is a white thin-cotton-looking growth on the top of the hut and the surrounding plants. If it is a matter of a bacterial colony establishing itself then it is no problem, hopefully it is does not increase. Regardless, the hut provides a nice hiding spot for my beta even though he is too social to hang out in it. Oh well, it is still cute and I hope it lasts.

Freaking fish
Great starter house for a fish. Not too much room but the open floor plan makes it manageable for a single fish or young couple. My Beta is a sneaky bastard though. He installed recessed lighting, threw on a coat of paint then flipped it, for 45% over market price, to an older couple looking to downsize. Now heโs bought two more and still hasnโt paid me back for the first one. We go to court next Tuesday.

Too small for hermit crabs
When I found this product on Amazon, I was ecstatic! For whatever reason, it is extremely difficult to find a natural coconut hut for pets! This product is definitely all-natural, and any cut edges have been perfectly smoothed for pet safety. It fits the bill almost perfectly, however, it's smaller than the dimensions Amazon has posted. Mine was closer to 4 inches diameter and a little more than two inches tall. For my medium-sized hermit crabs, a few inches is the difference between cozy and cramped. This is perfect for smaller pets, but I will likely be returning mine.

It's working out fine!
I wasn't sure about ordering this, debating and thinking it might be too big for my 10 gallon tank. But my golden snails went right to work examining its every outer inch, and at least one of the platties seems pretty curious about the entrance, and may have checked out the interior when I wasn't looking. I figure if it doesn't work out I can reuse it as some other critter's safe zone. Glad I didn't pursue my brief idea to buy a coconut and hack it up myself!

Fun!
I just received this AWESOME aquarium for my birthday. It's also here on Amazon! As far as my nut hut; the fish love it! If you look closely at the one pic; my algae sucker is upside down inside my new nut hut! I love it.. All the fish love it! I did boil it before I put it in the tank and left it all for a few days. I'm thrilled! Excellent choice for the tank! Highly recommend!

Sharp edges damaged fins! Must sand opening first.
Sharp edges tore my bettas fins. After I noticed this and they still wouldn't heal, I realized what the problem was. The cut coconut has every sharp edges. I used a nail file to sand the opening down and used a pair of panty hose to double check it. If the hose snag then keep filing. I hope ya'll read this before your fish injures itself. Other than that, it clouded up the water for a few water changes. I would have rathered i submerged it into a bowl of water first then added it to the betta tank. But he does like it and uses it often. I like the natural look of it, just wish the edges weren't dangerously sharp for delicate fins. Hopefully now that I filed it down, his fins will heal.

Natural, love it, hopefully the fish pets will too
Just arrived & looks good, itโs going into an upgraded 100l tank tomorrow that houses or will house blue shrimp, a snail, emerald eyes & a Betta, Iโm sure the Betta will claim it but they have a new upgraded tube cave which is too big for any of the fish to swim into, we shall see how it works. Just need to attach some moss to it, think itโll look really good in a few weeks

Brilliant cave for the tank
Bought this so my cordydoras had somewhere to hide and they love it, they moved in straight away to shelter from my naughty tiger barbs as one of them kept nipping at the small one.

Affordable, true to description, fast delivery
I'm amazed at how quickly my cichlids took to it, within 2 mins of introducing it to the tank! I did follow the instructions and boil and cool it first. Will be buying more!

Betta fish tank
My Betta fish loved this cave. Not too large for a 25l tank and no discolouration of the water.
