TUMI Men's Alpha Bravo Sheppard Deluxe Brief Pack® Business Backpack, Casual

I bought this backpack 1 year ago and it still looks the same as the day I bought it. Sure it was a little pricey at $400, but the quality has been worth the value.

Quite disappointed with this backpack. Have been a fan of Tumi for long, long time and have other Tumi products. I purchased a new MacBookPro15 as Christmas gift to self, and thought I would upgrade my Tumi bag to a backpack.Upon receipt, I noticed two areas of stitching that were actually frayed. Nonetheless, transferred things from bag to backpack, love all the space and pockets. However, as I put the backpack on my desktop (granite), I hear a loud "clunk".....there is no padding on bottom of the pack!! Even setting it on a wooden chair I was greeted with a "clunk", the clunk of my new, $3500 Macbook making contact with hard surface..... Sorry Tumi, but this is THE most expensive backpack bag out there, and while you may have the layout and pockets dialed in, no padding is a dealbreaker!!As a result, I ordered a Briggs Riley bag (@work, medium cargo bag). Received today, loaded it up, and very impressed! Not only is the laptop pocket padded heavily (and padded on the bottom), but there is also padding on the bottom of the bag - no "clunk" of my Macbook making contact with hard surface. Quality of Briggs is top notch, flawless, none of the "frayed" stitching I found on the Tumi. And, it's slightly more "rigid", and it stands up very well, very well balanced standing tall regardless of whether its loaded or not. Granted, nobody makes a perfect bag. The Briggs Riley is slightly smaller than the Tumi, however, quality is top notch. The layout is also great. Only complaint is that water bottle pockets are a little small, and, it doesn't have long side pocket for umbrella like the Tumi. For me personally, those are acceptable trade-offs, in particular given the fact it is $125 less than Tumi. And, BR has lifetime warranty! I just processed return on Amazon for the Tumi.I buy a lot on Amazon, but don't write a lot of reviews......hope you found this one helpful. I have previously had great luck with Tumi, I don't know if this is just a bad model, or if them being acquired by Samsonite is starting to show..... Regardless, as I look to replace some older Tumi luggage, I will certainly be looking at the Briggs Riley stuff.

This is the best designed and executed computer backpack I have ever used. Plenty of organized storage space. On a daily basis I carry my personal 15 inch MacBook Pro and large iPad plus lots of other stuff. There is also ample room to include my work laptop and accessories as well. Lots of great useful enclosures. Extremely well made. Looks great. Stands up on its own. A bit expensive but well worth the money. You get what you pay for. I'm a frequent business traveler. All of my luggage for work and for play is Tumi. I've never been disappointed with their quality, design, function or post-sales customer service. I would buy this backpack (and every other Tumi bag I own) all over again.
