Each pair of Earrings come packaged with a story card filled with the lore of horseshoe nails. Throughout history the horse shoe nail has held a special place- Ben Franklin included; in his almanac, a version of this rhyme – For Want of a Nail: For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. For want of a message the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail. A VILLAGE SMITH was shoeing a horse at his forge. His large anvil rang with each blow to the shoes. The Smith recognized that this was the Devil and shod him tightly with small painful horseshoes with long crimped nails. The Blacksmith made the shoeing so painful that the Devil begged for mercy.
