I have a colostomy and sensitive skin around the stoma. I have struggled with skin problems for years. I tried many barrier wipes, barrier sheets and even the very expensive Marathon cyanoacrylate product (expensive and hard to use). None of these worked for me. I cannot say if this product will work for you, everyone is different. I can tell you that it absolutely worked for me. My skin has healed and looks as good as it did immediately after my surgery. It has the added benefit of securing the flange in place with zero leaks and zero problems.

As a former Respiratory Therapist for 40 years we used Benzoin to tape ET tubes in place. I use it now to secure bandages on my skin as a I wait for my Skin Cancer surgery in 2 months. It works well, haven't found anything that works better.

Tincture of benzoin is used to help adhesive dressings stick to the skin. It’s derived from a resin and disolved in alcohol. It actually is believed by many to protect the skin. Our medical supplier ran out of tincture of benzoin for many months, but Amazon came through with this product which is an equivalent. Thanks Jeff!

Bought this for a Wildland Firefighter's fire line first aid kit. It was highly recommended by Backpacker Magazine. It came in handy as blister prevention for all the hiking they've got to do in their fire boots. Tincture of benzoin, a balsamic tree resin, has antiseptic, aromatic, and adhesive properties. It can be found in many forms-impregnated in cotton swabs, in small vials as a liquid, and as a spray-at drugstores and medical supply houses. Keep a little benzoin in your first-aid kit and use it to: (1) Augment the stickiness of any blister treatment. Just apply it to your foot, let it dry until tacky (a few minutes), then affix your dressing of choice. (2) Protect your skin from friction. When applied to unblistered skin, tincture of benzoin dries to a hardened shield, like a second layer of toughened-up skin. (3) Seal an existing blister as a last resort.
