Q: Can this pot be used on an electric stove with coils?

The commonly accepted answer is no. You'll need a donabe that is specifically designed to be used on an electric coil as a standard donabe is only meant to be used over open flame.

Q: Are there instructions in English?

Not with the one I received. But instructions for seasoning (yes you need to season, it's very easy) and use are easy to find on the web. If you check out Toiro's website they have a lot of great English language resources. I will add that I LOVE my Daikoku -- I use it constantly. It may take you a few tries to get the water to different rice/heat/time down, but it's really worth it in terms of the delicious rice you get! Apologies if you know this already, but rinsing rice is a must and so is soaking anything brown with a little salt (overnight if you can). I think the white rice also improves with a couple hours soak but maybe that's just me? I'm still in the process of learning all this stuff. :)
