Great pictures and explanations.
Very easy to identify rocks in the field. Photos of the rocks are clear and descriptive. Descriptions of the different types of sedimentary rocks are excellent.

Very very good book
I'm really happy that I purchased this book. It has just about all the info you need when on the field and looking at outcrops. Its a good refresher as well since it outlines and describes the basic properties and characteristics of the rocks . Its small enough to fit in my handbag so I can take it around and recap while waiting in line or at the hairdresser. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a geology enthusiast or geologists who work in the industry or on the field. Enjoy

Packed with beautiful color photos. Great field resource
Haven't taken it out in the field, although it's obviously an excellent resource for the amateur or professional geologist. I like the layout of this edition rather than the 2011 edition by Tucker. The chapters are organized by sedimentary rock type in this edition by Stow, which makes it easy to quickly look things up, e.g. the name of that crinkly carbonate texture while standing at the outcrop. The book arrived in new condition, as described. I will not forget to put this in the bag next time I'm out in the field.

Great Little Guide
This book was recommended to me by a professor, and I'm so glad I decided to purchase it. It's nice and small enough to be carried around in the field, and works as an amazing reference book with great printing and is in beautiful color (which, if you've tried to identify what flute casts look like in a crappy black and white picture, you know what I mean).

Experienced Professional Geologist - Mining Company
This is the best geological field book of its type I have ever seen. The layout and illustrations are quite simply superb. As a field guide for the undergraduate, post graduate and professional geologist it is a must have. I only wish their were equivalent books available for igneous, volcanic and metamorphic rocks. No doubt someone will replicate the standard of this book and produce these titles. I await their arrival eagerly.

Best Sedimentary Rock Field Guide
This is by far the handiest geology field guide that I've purchased in my career. Beautiful vibrant pictures, the diagrams are excellent and the text is very informative but easy to read. Additionally its a good travel size for field work, and very durable for a book!

Best Sedimentology/Stratigraphy book EVER.
I recently bought this book for a supplement to my geology courses and it has been very informative. I would recommend this to any geology major that needs additional explanations about everything sed/strat. And of course it is an awesome field guide.

Very detailed - lots of information crammed into this book
This book, as happens with many publications, claims to be more suited to professional and amateur geologists alike - but I think that's a bit of a stretch if I'm honest and that a basic knowledge of geology is required to be able to read it without stopping regularly to look up terminology and examples from other sources.I'm only a couple of chapters in so far and I've found I have to read it in short stints, and sometimes refer to Internet resources to broaden my understanding before moving on. There's a LOT of information to absorb. The numerous diagrams and colour photographs are very welcome indeed - but sometimes their smallish size and lack of detailed labels / captions left me struggling to know which bits I was supposed to be looking at.On balance though I'd have to say it's one of my favourite and more useful of the geology books that I, as an enthusiastic amateur, have collected so far - but I think I'll have to make repeated use of it in the field to get the best from it.
