Lexicomp Drug Information Handbook: Indispensable!
As a hospital pharmacist, use of multiple references becomes a daily experience. In some institutions where I worked prior to embracing retirement, on-line references were a some-time benefit. To supplement this some years ago, I began using the Lexicomp Drug Information Handbook, with new editions available every two years. The beauty of this reference is the set-up of the drug monographs and it's "down-and-dirty" style. Dosages for the various indications? It's right there! Renal kinetics? Right there! Drug-drug interactions? Right there! My biggest problem with having the latest edition was protecting it from the other pharmacists in the department trying to 'permanently borrow it'!As I updated the editions, I would give the past edition to a student pharmacist or nurse who would benefit from its information. While somewhat larger than a 'pocket edition', I consider it my 'go-to' reference whenever I require concise drug information.

Should be on your desk if your work in medicine or related fields
I've used this book for over 20 years. I love it because it compares drugs apples to apples with regard to details you might need like PK, PD, AEs, scheduling, teratogenicity, dosing, peds, elderly, interactions, etc. It also provides correct pronunciation (using the TALLman format to help prevent errors) and provides all trade names (including Canadian names). Includes only US drugs. I can't beieve how gigantic this book has become over the years. It's an absolute desk reference for me.

Excellent Medication Book
So far I am extremely happy with my purchase. I knew this was an expensive book, but I didn't care as long as it contains the medication info I need. You get a good explanation of the medication and its use. This book is endorsed by the American Pharmacists Association. It is laid out nicely. The medications are listed in red, followed by brand names, etc. Everything you need to know about a medicine is laid out in clear English.

This is a great handbook for pharmacists and I have used earlier versions for 21 years. However, this version did not show the herbal interactions with with each drug in an easily found format as did earlier versions of this book.

This book is VERY heavy but SO worth it. I believe this book is the reason why I made an 'A' on my rotation. If you're a student in need of a sound educational pharmacology book, this will be it!

Very very good reference source.
The handbook is as complete as ever. My only complaint is that the size of the type is getting smaller and harder to read for my older eyes. It would be a real benefit to increase the type size but I guess the consequence is a larger reference book.

Bigger and Bigger .... and Smaller and Smaller print :(
How could you not like these books! I have been using them for year ... the only problem is the years. As they progress it is getting harder and harder to read the print!!!! :) Great series!

SOO much better than the PDR
A PhD pharmacy college turned me on to this book several years ago. SOO much better than the PDR. I order one yearly and I get one for a family member who is also a health care professional.
