Not good if you actually work.
I'm a professional electrician, and require durable and comfortable foot ware. The reviews lead me to believe that this boot might be perfect for me, but I am extremely disappointed. These boots are pretty solid, but after wearing them about twice a week for a little over month, the soft toe in one boot is buckling and crumpling. This buckling of the soft toe rubs on my toes, and is pretty darn uncomfortable. Some seams are already coming apart as well. I had purchased a pair of Timberlands about 15 years ago for work, but they fell apart far too fast. It dawned on me then that Timberlands might be more about fashion than actual work ware. Despite my better judgement, I thought I might give the "PRO" line a shot. Not for this professional. Never again Timberland. On the plus side, it's still a pretty tough boot. Thick heavy leather, decent sole. Took a while to break in, but was pretty comfortable apart form the toe buckling issue. This boot will still probably last a long time, but just there's no way I will get three years out of these. If all you do is walk or stand, these might last forever, but the simply don't bend well. They just can't take a real beating.

Get the ones with the holes instead of the hooks...
I've had these boots for about 2 months now and I like them. They are comfortable and durable. The hooks instead of eyelets at the top are very convenient but mine came off when I pulled the laces tight. Now I need to either just deal with it and not lace the top eyelet or I need to send them in for a warranty replacement at my own cost. I think they are bound to pull out again unless I'm very careful so I wish I had just bought the boots that have holes instead. So that is what I would suggest doing.

Timberland PRO Men's Pitboss 6" Soft-Toe Boot
I really like these boots. I find they are both light and very comfortable. This is my second pair in two years, but that is mainly because I am hard on work boots. These soft-toe boots are not insulated, which makes them great for the warmer weather that is coming soon. The tread on these soles are great, since they don't hold tons of dirt and crud like lug soles do. This means a lot less worries about soiled carpeting if you have to go in and out of people's houses all day. These boots are made in China [ARGH!], but overall, for what they cost, I feel they are a well made product.

So far so good.
Initial feelings are these are a nice pair of boots. They are light and comfortable right out of the box. Normally I have to break boots in before they can be worn without causing damage to my feet but these were great before the break in period. The padded neck area is an added bonus and does not chafe my leg like other boots do. So far no complaints but I will update in the future as to their quality and how they stand up to the elements/time.

Sole Seperated
Bought these at a local boot store. Very comfortable. However, after about a year with very little use, the sole separated from the boot. Due to the materials used they could not be re-glued and the only option was a new sole. Based on the cost....they will be replaced with a different brand.

Serious Design Flaw in Otherwise Quality Boots
The materials and stitching are quality, but there's a serious internal design flaw. The tongue of the boot is connected to a tab of leather in the ankle of the boot. When you walk and put forward pressure on the tongue, it pulls this leather tab out from the side of the boot so it scrapes against the ankle bone. This quickly gets painful.Of course I discovered this day 1 while on the jobsite, leaving the boots in less than pristine condition. I intend to cut out the piece of fabric that connects the tongue to the leather tab. Also, the less your ankle moves in the boot, the less of a problem it is, so cranking down on the laces will help (though it does not help blood circulation). The fact that I didn't see this mentioned in other reviews makes me wonder if they changed the design recently. I cannot recommend buying these until they change the tongue design. In other notes, they are solid heavy leather boots that look well made. The tread is shallower than my previous boots though, and I have to wonder how long it will hold up.

Gotta find the right size
First off,.. let me say I love Timberland casual boots, work boots and shoes. That said, getting a pair of Tims that fit right off the bat is really a crap shoot, and that's the reason for the 3 star rating. For me, the 8.5 wides will usually fit, in both shoes and boots, off the shelf, but I really have to try 'em on to be sure. My custom Tims are actually an 8 wide, and still a bit too BIG. Bummer cuz since they're custom, Timberland won't exchange 'em.I ordered a pair of the Pro Pitboss boots (from amazon.com) in 8.5 wide but they are actually too SMALL, so,.. back they go and I'll be ordering the 9 wides to see if they fit any better.Amazon has been great about exchanging these, but really, Timberland,... can you be a bit more consistent with your sizing??
