Question 1

Since these treats get hard so quickly, can unopened bags be put in the freezer, or does that make them even harder?  Anyone try it?

Hi, Star!  I see no reason to put them in the freezer, as there's nothing to be gained.  I've found that these L-Lysine treats are very hard even when they're fresh!  I break each treat into 3 pieces so that my cat will eat them (he gets 2 treats a day).Let me share my latest brainstorm with you though:  I got so aggravated at the rock-hardness of these treats that I picked up a clean spray bottle (filled with clean water), spritzed it a couple of times inside the treat bag and quickly sealed it up.  The next day, the treats were moist and soft!  I still break them into pieces, but all of a sudden, my cat loves them!  The treats have not gotten moldy or anything, but just be careful how much water you spray into the bag.  I also gave the bag a shake after sealing it, just to spread the moisture around.  Can you believe this worked??  :o)

how many mg per chew?

250 mg of lysine per chew.  This is the amount recommended as a maintenance dose.  If cat has active symptoms (runny eyes, etc,) I give 2 treats a day.  There are 60 treats per bag, enough for at least a month or two, depending on your cat's needs.  I break into three smaller pieces and casually leave on the floor, as my suspicious cat won't take treats from my hand.  Lysine really works, and my cat won't take regular lysine powder in her food.  These are great.

Is the  l-lysine tablets for people the same as the l-lysine in this product?

To answer your question..yes.  It's the same supplement that people take.  You can buy people L-Lysine, it's probably cheaper, however, L-Lysine tastes very salty and once I found out what it taste like I bought this for my cat.  My cat loved this and took it without any problem.  With the regular L-Lysine tablets for people I had to crush the tablet and then put it in wet food.  It still tasted salty.  It was something I wouldn't eat and wouldn't make my cat eat either.  This supplement is a treat for my cat now.
