The background of this mystery ( St. Paul, MN and Hinckley, MN) is described clearly and accurately. The story, while fiction in its nature, is clearly based on the facts pertinent to the times and places described in the novel. Having been to Hinckley many times, I now see this community in a new light as we travel through this area.

This is the 4th or 5th book of this series that I have read. It was exciting. There was action and , of course, a mystery to be solved. I look forward to another book in this series.

Hidden gem
I thought this would simply be a novelty but Millet is an inspired author who perfectly captures the cadence of Arthur Conan Doyle and seamlessly embeds some Minnesota history into the mix. Boston Corbett, anyone? Very well done all around.

Sherlock is on Fire for this case
Rating 3.5This is the account of the fires that tormented the Eastern Minnesota Railroad. When Holmes and Watson are brought to America to find out why there are fire popping up at the railroad and the mysterious letters. As Holmes and Watson try to solve the case. They are late to figure out the Red Demon and most of the town burns. This case Sherlock calls the biggest failure of his career. The story has some slow parts but as most Sherlock novels wraps up nicely in the end.

Great non-fiction book
It's a great book about facts in my surrounding area. I'm in fact going to the museums this summer to follow up what's real. See Hill's mansion and the museum in Hinckley, MN.

Larry Millet writing Sherlock Holmes
I like all novels featuring Sherlock Holmes. since they are filled all sorts of character. This one takes place however not in London but in America.
