Looks great, works as intended, easy install
The Yakima WindFairer is a great addition to any roof rack system, helping to reduce wind noise and improve aerodynamics while driving. It’s easy to install and fits most crossbars, making it a convenient upgrade for those who frequently use roof-mounted cargo carriers, bike racks, or kayak mounts. The sleek design not only enhances the look of your vehicle but also helps with fuel efficiency by minimizing drag. Made from durable materials, it holds up well against the elements and provides a quieter, smoother ride. For anyone looking to cut down on wind noise and improve their roof rack setup, the Yakima WindFairer is a solid choice.

Looks awesome on my VW MK7 GTI and reduces wind noise
I love the utility and look of the VW OEM roof racks on my VW MK7 GTI, but they added a fair amount of wind noise on highways. After evaluating a few brands, I decided to take a chance of Yakima 46" wind fairing - it was the size recommended by Yakima's manual. Installation was very straightforward - you basically run some straps through some openings and tighten them with the included wrench tool until they don't go anymore. The manual says you can optionally cut off any excess material, but I didn't feel like my extended too far so I left it as is. The kit also comes with some clear plastic patches to place on the roof of the car in case you hit a bump and the fairing makes contact. Overall, the installation only took a few mins of effort. I spent more time organizing the parts and visualizing than actual doing. No sweat! Some folks on VW message boards worry about the thickness of the OEM racks and 3rd party fairings, but as you can see from the photos, the Yakima wind fairing works fine and feels very secure. Wind noise has been reduced - I'm no longer conscious of it. Cosmetically, the wind fairing adds to the curb appeal of my car. I'm extremely happy with the purchase.

If your roof rack whistles, this stops it
Fit perfect, and stopped all the wind noise from our roof rack, should have found out about this years ago. It works.

Low quality clips, but customer service saves the day.
Update- called Yakima customer service and they made it right. Sent out replacement parts and all is well. No noise and looks great on my Outlander. The Fairing itself seems great, but the clips included for mounting are poorly made. Not only did one of the 4 crack like peanut brittle as soon as I started to bend it slightly, but two of them had faulty ratchet gears inside that are supposed to be what you use to tighten the ties/clips to your rack. I would NOT recommend this, especially for the price... Yakima should be better, and they should replace this product and take it off shelves in its current form. I will email them and hope they send a replacement or at least replacement clips.

Crazy expensive, but crazy good
Originally I had installed the INNO universal fairing in my roof rack, but the supplied hardware did not work well for aero bars, so I returned it do the Yakima fairing. Assembly is a breeze, and it was installed o my car in less than 5 minutes, most of that time was spent measuring to ensure it was centered. The clever strap system forms to any bar shape, and it is very sturdy. It offers better aerodynamics because the mounting system is so small, unlike the clunky bar clamps that other fairings come with. If was a rough pill to swallow when I saw the price tag, but after I mounted it, I was happy to pay it. Often the best doesn’t come cheap!

Great to reduce noise
Great to reduce howling noise on a 2024 Mazda 3 hatchback with a roof rack. It doesn’t make it much quieter, but it’s a less noticeable sound. It looks good, but it’s kinda expensive for what you get. It’s basically a piece of black plexiglass with some plastic straps. The screws aren’t even real screws they’re just plastic push pins. However, I like that it comes with little clear plastic stickers to protect the paint.

Will never buy another YAKIMA product
2 pretty Santa Cruz flew off the roof of my 2019 VW GTI using YAKIMA'S base clip system. Middle of a busy highway, miracle nobody was hurt. The entire rack system flew clean off. It was 100% installed to manufacturer spec. I've used THULE racks on literally every vehicle i've had since im 19 and never had a single problem. Decided to try these out because REI had the carriers in stock and I was impulsive to get racks on my new VW. Big mistake. Warranty dept professionally & skillfully dragged there feet. No longer respond to emails. Supplied bodywork estimates, bike repair estimate, book reports worth of information. What an awful experience from start to finish. Its probably obvious to most anyway but i'd highly recommend skipping this company and buying THULE. 0 stars

Happy with it
I like this wind fairing better than a popular competitor I had before because I’ve had noticeably less wind noise. That may depend on your vehicle though. I also really like the mechanism for tightening it to the cross rails.

Love the look of this deflector, installed no problem but like other reviews don't over tighten as it is plastic on plastic. Definitely reduced the wind noise.
