Is a permit required from the city to install this sprinkler system?

Check with your city beforehand. I know my county requires permits on any lawn irrigation system installed that exceeds $600

I bought the small area with 6 heads and wifi last year, Is it possible to add the large system to my current system and have it run off the same wifi

I have not needed to do it myself, but YES the system is expandable. You can run multiple timers off the same B Hyve hub using the same app. Comments and reviews that I have read mention how easy it is to expand, router recognizes new timers as soon as they are turned on. connection in app is done with just a push of the button. I do not know the exact number of timers one hub can handle, but reviews and pictures on B Hyve hubs amazon page speak of 2,3 even 5 separate timers being run off of one Hub. There do seem to be mixed reviews referencing the app being limited and not so user friendly when running more than 1 timer. I personally love the app, but again I am only using it for 1 timer with1 zone. I would urge you to look through those reviews just so you are informed prior to making your decision.
