... have been using this for about two weeks now pretty heavy for metal detecting with my boys
I have been using this for about two weeks now pretty heavy for metal detecting with my boys. The blade itself appears to be pretty strong and works well. The issues i have are with the handle and the sheath. On my knife, the handle is slightly loose toward the hand saver. Its not terrible and is surely still functional. Also the hand saver is loose. Again, it is functional but just a little loose. When pulling in and out of the sheath, you have to be very careful because it is sewn together without a strip of leather in between so the serrated edge tents to cut the stitching. Also the top rivet that holds the belt strap broke. I fixed it with two aluminum washers and aluminum rivet. It is very strong now.Overall for the price it is a decent tool but do not expect top quality.

I love my hori hori!!!
So... I have a little "cottage garden" and a couple years ago, some goldenrod started to grow. At first I did not know what it was but it looked so green and healthy that I decided to let it grow. When it reached my height and finally bloomed, I realized it was goldenrod. Yes, the flowers were so pretty, the plant stood tall and strong, and the pollinators loved it but, I did not want this in my little garden. It is invasive with long underground roots. Here comes my Hori Hori Knife to the rescue. With little effort I was able to dig down and dig out the goldenrod as it was beginning to surface and will continue to use it as I see more appear. It is easy to use, heavy duty and comfortable in my hand. Also used it to wack off some dead branches on a couple shrubs and it opened my bag of birdseed. I can't wait to use it to plant some new flowers in my garden. My little trowel is now history... forever! I have shared my experience with other gardening friends and they too have bought it and I can't wait to hear how they like it. Spring is here! Do yourself a favor and buy this knife and then go "dig dig"!

Hori hori
This thing is so useful, I wish I had bought it a long time ago. Most recently I used it to plant tulip and daffodils bulbs. The measurements on the knife are really helpful. It is super sharp so be cautious. I cut my finger pretty bad.Edit: Edited to say that the blade broke off of the handle while I was trying to dig out some burdock root. So, this thing is not indestructible but I ordered another and it is still my favorite/most versatile garden tool. But I've learned to treat it right. ;)

Blade broke in two, handle separating
I loved using this knife in the garden. It got a decent amount of use, though nothing too taxing. Today, after less than two summers of light use, the blade snapped in half. Pretty shocking., as I was digging out weeds - nothing too taxing. I've never had a knife do that before - I suppose maybe there was a defect in the metal.Another issue I had was that the handle has been separating. So far, that hasn't been a big problem, because the knife is full tang, and the handle still works. The blade, however, makes me realize that the item is pretty shoddily made.

Pretty hefty tool!
This thing is a beast! There is still snow on the ground so I haven't been able to dig with it yet but my initial evaluation is favorable. It is full tang, which means it is one piece of steel from the tip of the knife all the way through to the end of the handle and makes this a very sturdy tool. The blade is pretty thick and is concaved on one side which also has markings on the same side that have measurement from 1 to 6 inches and from 1 to 150 millimeters with the blade being 7 inches total. This knife also has a finger guard to help keep your hand from running down into the blade which some Hori Hori knives do not have. The sheath is leather, seems a bit cheap but works. I bought This knife to dig while metal detecting and overall, for the price, you can't go wrong.

Perfect for Stealthy Digging
Nice shape and sharp edges to cut perfect, clean plugs in park and grass lawns. I use for metal detecting parks. Truly a stealth digger as it looks like you were never there. Only complaint is that the metal tang in the handle cane with sharp exposed edges all around. Probably due to the wood handle slightly shrinking. Solved this by filing and stoning to handle level.

Very useful tool
This is a nice tool for moderate price. The handle feels good in my hand, the blade seems to be of good quality and shaped well. The knife side edge is sharp for a garden tool but pretty dull by knife standards; I might sharpen it but then I will feel bad when I dull it by digging. The separated side is well cut and surprisingly effective. The sheath is very well made for something in this price line; it fits well, is fairly thick leather of reasonable quality and hangs from a belt very comfortably. I use this tool more than I expected and plan to buy another to give as a gift.

Great tool for the price
I have bought this for metal detecting. So far I've used it to dig up about 80 items from the ground. Lately was the true test, very rocky soil/ground. Honestly, I thought I'd break it or snap the tip off from digging between rocks or getting under them and popping them out of the ground. Nothing has happened to it and it's a great tool. If I need, I'll definitely buy another one without hesitation.
