Schwinn Porter Cargo Trailer for Bikes, 100 lb Capacity, Foldable

I do not know you, but if you are concerned with quality, easy assembly, big fat tires with great wheels, looks, and a price for what this delivers you would be very foolish not to buy…………

Okay, so i wrote this review because I think that most reviewers on here ordered the more basic "DayTripper" version of this trailer, and that is what they reviewed, every picture I found was of the DayTripper version. None of that helped me in my decision to spend another 80 bucks or so and get the "Porter" version, but i rolled the dice after not being able to find videos or comprehensive specs on the om website or here. Before this, I had a pretty old DayTripper , great little trailer for something a bike shop shoñd me for 50 bucks with my ebike. But figuring out how to carry very many tools, even including an small extending ladder was kinda dicey, it looked like the Beverly hillbillies truck sometimes loaded down and bungeed on all sides. Finally i abused it a bit too much, and the tires were kaput, the canvas siding was shredded! So , after a lot of research, i was just going to order a new one, but i was picking the color scheme when I saw an all black one was available, i love all black pretty much everything. So i clicked on the all black one. Turns out it was the Porter version and costs eighty bucks , it looked bigger, sturdier in the pictures , so i rolled the dice. Got here today , and holy cow! It is significantly wider and taller the DayTripper, much, much, more room! The combination of daisy chain or MOLLE style loops down both sides , combined with a stretching mesh net, and frame bars that are open all the way around make it easy to secure absolutely anything absolutely securely with bungees. It has much bigger bulkier tires that should make it more stable, help the turn ratio, keep it stable. I mean i was Leary, but knew if you can trust anybody it's Schwinn. I was not let down at all,serious upgrade in every department for me, and well worth every penny of the difference. It even comes with a safety flag ( if that is your thing) and flag pocket, and inside pockets for keeping stuff seperate and sealed. I also feel that it suits my super big , tall, robust, huge tire army green ebike a hell of a lot better than the bright red and blue mylar of the day tripper, pics included are of the day tripper i had, and the new Porter side by side.

I towed this with my bike for a while and can vouch for how well it does. My wife bought me an e-bike for my birthday last year and I'm having a hard time mounting it due to the axle nut setup on the new bike. I will figure it out and post a new review when I do. It mounted easily with the quick release axle on my standard bike and tows easily. We used it for grocery shopping and I can vouch for the fact that it WILL hold 100 pounds. We had 2 large bags of bird seed and 2 25 pound turkeys as well as other items and it towed like a dream. It is a little noisy when it is empty, but that's just something to live with. Great cargo trailer. If you have goatheads where you live, slime the tires right away.

I needed a trailer with nobby tires to pair with my mountain bike for camping trips. The Schwinn Porter is perfect for the job, it tracks well, is relatively light, and can hold a ton of gear. I took it to coast camp in Pt Reyes and it performed great. Would recommend. Just a note, if you're pairing it with an Ibis Ripmo AF, you'll need a longer through axle (P1.75 12mmX160mm forked for me). Happy trails!

Love this thing but wish the seller had a cover for sale for rain sold separately. I use this to tow my purchases from Costco in on my electric bike. Can also double as a shopping cart too but the attachment jabs at my thigh a lot when using it like that. Was super easy to assemble too and very durable. haven't had it break on me yet but with this price tag, it better not.

Haven't used much yet. Bought it AMZ-used and seems as new. Little problem getting back bar in and out. I also would like to carry a spare tube, but having trouble finding a 16 x 3" tube. I have an e-bike with 20 x 4" wheels. I took this out for a quick flip test, to see how it would handle a semi-tight turn at app. 12 mph. It did fine with no tendency to tip (my other trailers did tip). I also tested moving about 6 half-full 5 gal paint buckets, up a steep gravel driveway; No problem, and it was fun to be able to do these 3 trips with no worrying. I also tested a few straight high-speed runs @20-28 mph. It seemed to run easily with no fishtailing. The tires are mild knobby and I thought wouldn't a more street tire be appropriate, but in riding they felt smooth, and when I thought about it, I like having the trailer having the extra grip needed to keep it in line when dealing with side forces like hills , wet and uneven ground. After I have fully used this trailer, I will upgrade my comments, but up top now I'll say that I trust this trailer, and think it might be the best store bought one that I have owned.

I bought this trailer for my ebike a couple months ago and since then I've taken it to hell and back. I pushed this trailer to its limits and then some. I have a rad runner plus and I put a friend on the rear seat of the bike and one in this trailer (he weighs 175lbs) and we hit a top speed of 50mph. Granted this probably wasn't a great idea it worked nonetheless with about double the recommended max weight and speed. After like 2 straight months of aggressive offloading with heavy 150 pound loads the only damages my cart has endured are slight tears in the cargo net and slight sag on the spring that connects to the bike trailer hitch. Overall this is an excellent trailer for on-road and off road use.

Comparto mi reseña de primeras impresiones. Actualizaré conforme lo vaya usando y conozca sus capacidades. Este modelo está excelente porque, de los pocos remolques comerciales en México, este cubre muchas necesidades de forma correcta, las llantas anchas son excelentes tanto para la carga como para la seguridad de usuario ante irregularidades del terreno. Durante varias semanas e incluso meses estuve revisando otros remolques de diferentes marcas y precios; y según los usuarios, esos otros modelos presentaban fallas o elementos poco seguros. Después de meditarlo mucho me decidí por este Schwinn Porter y la verdad es que se desempeña muy bien. Para empezar, este remolque Porter cubre muy bien las debilidades que tienen otros modelos en el mercado. Incorpora llantas anchas, forros laterales, red de carga, puertita removible y es relativamente fácil de acoplar/desacoplar. Además, incluye un banderín muy alto y hasta un reflector trasero, que dan mayor seguridad visual. Me agradó mucho que incluso se puede usar como carrito de jale (con su asa), por lo que hasta puede usar sin bicicleta de forma cómoda. Sobre la conducción: Puedo compartir que, a diferencia de llevar objetos pesados en la parrilla/portaequipajes, llevarlos en el remolque es una experiencia totalmente nueva y agradable. Al usar el remolque, dejas de preocuparte por mantener el equilibrio, sobrecargar la parrilla o asegurar la carga, y más bien te concentras en disfrutar más el viaje, aunque claro, con las debidas precauciones. Podría describir la sensación de manejo como un "poco más pesada/chistosa", como si a tus llantas les faltara un poco de aire, pero es curioso porque esta no es una sensación constante, más bien depende del terreno y la distribución del peso o artículos en el remolque, pues en senderos "planos" podría decir que te olvidas del remolque y la bicicleta se siente "natural". Incluso noté que no es difícil arrancar en semáforos (aunque esto depende más de la bicicleta la bicicleta, el tamaño de llanta y tu transmisión). Claro, todo esto tiene una curva de aprendizaje, porque sin peso, el remolque es un poco rebotón, por lo que hay que moderar la velocidad según los obstáculos del camino. Ya cuando está cargado es diferente, porque las llantas anchas se encargan de absorber las imperfecciones del terreno; sin embargo, también se debe conducir con cierta precaución, pues, aunque es un remolque pensado para senderos accidentados, aún siento que puede llegar a volcarse si no se asegura bien la carga o se modera la velocidad. Me fascina el sistema de acoplamiento, en unos pocos segundos puedo regresar mi bicicleta a su estado original y utilizarla sin problema alguno. Desde mi experiencia ciclista llevando cargas medianas (despensa, garrafón de agua, cilindro de gas, paquetes), puedo decir que el punto más fuerte de este remolque son sus llantotas: 16" x 3.0". La llanta ancha es su punto más fuerte que lo vuelve un producto excepcionalmente robusto y seguro. Tenía muchas dudas sobre si adquirir el producto, pero ahora que finalmente lo tengo, puedo decir que sí vale la pena. Incrementa muchísimo la utilidad de la bicicleta para realizar actividades de carga y transporte de artículos. Hasta el momento lo usé para transportar una alfombra vieja de una habitación e ir por el garrafón de agua pasando por calles empedradas, baches, charcos y leves senderos de tierra. Iré incrementando el peso y artículos conforme lo domine, y compartiré fotos al respecto. Planeo montarle 2 garrafones de agua, sin embargo, considero que probablemente necesite una base de madera a medida, o algún otro material que sirva de relleno para asegurarlos bien y evitar que se muevan dentro de la estructura (especialmente porque son líquidos). De momento lo he combinado con cuerdas elásticas de carga y se comporta bien. Es importante aclarar que este producto no sustituye la simplicidad de únicamente utilizar la bicicleta con una parrilla y caja de plástico o alforjas, pues no me veo usando el remolque para sortear banquetas en zonas específicas de mi ciudad. Pero sí podría decir que este remolque es como un accesorio extra super funcional, que vale la pena tener disponible para cualquier ocasión y/o para actividades específicas que requieran mover peso o varios artículos de forma segura y práctica. La base de plástico está OK, sin embargo, los artículos pueden deslizar mucho dentro de esta, por lo que valdría la pena considerar si integrarle un tapete, espuma, relleno o material más adherente, según los artículos que lleves para que estos no se maltraten o deslicen durante el camino. (No se salen gracias al forro incluido, pero sí pueden deslizar). Por último, un aspecto en el que este producto queda a deber (un poco), es sobre su falta de puntos de sujeción. Es decir, aunque el remolque incluye zonas específicas para colocar la red de carga, si llegas a colocar algún artículo más grande como cajas o artículos más altos, no hay puntos de sujeción extra para colocar cuerdas o aditamentos que permitan asegurar más la carga. Sería positivo que, de fábrica ya incluyera alguna especie de armellas cerradas en los laterales para colocar ganchos, eslingas o cuerdas de carga y no solo limitarse a funcionar la red incluida. De todos modos, se pueden colocar cuerdas con ganchos en los tubos interiores (como en las fotos), pero no siempre es del todo práctico.

Before purchasing, I spent a long time reading reviews of other bike trailers before settling on this one, and I'm glad I did. This trailer has met all of my expectations: its sturdy, has a large and well made wheel base, it is the perfect size for traveling, its easy to set up and tow, and it comes with a very useful and versatile, removable, netting cover. Practically, it has been a life saver for me doing large grocery shopping, as I do not own a car. Aesthetically. I'm often stopped and offered compliments.

Iam lucky to read previous reviews asking to choose Porter instead. It is nimble, easy to cycle with, less resistance force when cycle uphill n easy to cycle tru at downtown. Only thing they can upgrade to use heavy duty buttons instead of velcros..few time it came off but kust small issues.

Bought for my brother. He loves this bike trailer. Carries a lot of things for him. Strong, sturdy and worth the price.
