The male and female ends are no longer round like in the picture on this page
I am writing on the Coleman Cable 02687 10/3 extension cord. There are some changes to this power cord from the last time I ordered one. The cable is being branded by Southwire, which after some searching is the parent company to Coleman now. The cable is made in China, is UL listed, and is NEMA 5-15. The male and female ends are no longer round like in the picture on this page, they are now a more square offed oval. The outer jacket protects three separate inner jacketed copper cables. The 25ft cord I ordered came wrapped oval coil style with a paper sleeve around it to maintain the coil. It's not bound with twist ties or zip ties, just the paper sleeve.Southwire's product code for this cable is 2687SW0002

Cable shorted out with crackling and smoking
After 6 months of periodic use, this cable failed in the most surprising fashion. With one end plugged into the outlet and nothing plugged into the female end, I heard behind me a crackling and sizzling sound. I turned around to see the female end of the wire smoking and blackened. I quickly moved to the breaker and shut off the outlet. Upon closer inspection, I can see that the wire leads inside the plug are loose and work back and forth when the cable is flexed near the plug. A nice feature is that the plugs are clear so the wires are not difficult to inspect. This cable worked perfectly until this point and I really like the power indicator lights in each plug end. Luckily the end of the cable that shorted was in a safe area and I was nearby to hear it and turn off the power. I'd like to emphasize that there was no current being drawn through the cable until the short, so it was not an occurrence I would have predicted. I'd hate to think what could have resulted had this happened with the end sitting in dry grass or any other fuel source. The return period for this item is only 3 months, so I am 3 months beyond the end of my luck. I will replace the defective plug with an aftermarket version.

AWESOME & THICK Cord with No Heat Build Up!!!
I was using another Smaller Extension Cord 14/3 25 Foot to power a 14,000 BTU Portable Room Air Conditioner... The Smaller Gage cord would be Noticeably WARM after running this A/C for a few hours and I was concerned about the Fire Hazard... BUT...With this AWESOME THICK Gage 10/3 25 Foot Cord that is in the past... It runs the Room Air Conditioner like a Champ with NO HEAT BUILDUP in the Cord or Plugs... Peace of Mind!!! Love It!!!I also use this Cord for my Yamaha 2400SHC Generator for Flawless Power Transfer with Minimal Power Loss... Yay!!!

If you order this thinking you will get the one ...
If you order this thinking you will get the one pictured you will not. You will get a southwire one instead. Discovered that southwire bought coleman and this is most likely why. But you can buy a southwire 25ft 10/3 for less money. I ended up paying more cause it was presented as a coleman and it is not.

Heavy duty extension cord.
This 10/3 cord is well suited to running power tools and supplying power to multiple items. The 10ga cord doesn't have the voltage drop of smaller cords and the thick cable resists kinks and tangles. The lighted end lets you know if it comes unplugged - or that you left it plugged in unintentionally. I have one that I use when set up an outdoor work area - running it to a heavy duty outlet box for circular saws, portable air compressor, drills, and other tools. That worked so well that I bought a second one to run to my toolbox with a similar outlet box to power my cordless tool chargers, lighting in the hutch, radio, and such.

Very happy with the product
Used it while it rained outdoors. No problems charging my car. The car charging computer showed exactly the same charge as what it does when it is directly plugged into the charger. So, using this 50feet long wire resulted in no loss in charging capacity. It did not even heat up. Very happy with the product. Would definitely recommend. Was shipped immediately and delivered on time.

4 Star for Lightweight Yard Equipment
Both 100' cables have the yellow cover coming loose from the plugs. Even after using hose clamps on plug, and on the cover-at-the-plug they still come loose. ..... They are used for lawn trimmers, and lawn mowers by an elderly disabled person (ie. he moves slowly, and carefully so as not to damage any of the equipment -- not being able to afford replacements). ..... Since this is a safety issue, perhaps they should be rated 3 stars, but a slim possibility exists that two lemons just happened to be purchased in a row. ....... Since some are reporting problems with over-heated plugs, it should be noted that the equipment used is very light, and does not over stress the amp ratings.

You need this to for shore power.
My camper is 30 amp service and it is essential to use a 10 gauge extension cord when plugging into shore power. I use an adapter to go from my camper's cord to a regular outdoor home outlet. This cord is heavy duty, love the lighted end so you can see the outlet is working and I recommend it.

Awesome quality for our Class A Motorhome
Perfect product. No issues. Love the lighted end. Heavy duty and rolls up well. So much safer to use when plugging in your RV than non 10/3 cords.
