Great but a bit pricey and hot to hold
It's a great mate cup aesthetically pleasing, is larger than a lot of the gourds you can find, doesn't need seasoning, won't mildew and is much easier to clean. The only knock is that the vessel transfers heat (aka: the cup gets hot in your hands). There isn't much you can do about this as it is ceramic. Just something to consider if you are thinking about purchasing it. Also, for a simple glazed clay pot, it is a bit expensive. Since there is nothing technical about this cup, you might be able to find one cheaper, just beware that you are getting one with a food safe glaze!

This ceramic version of a mate gourd is excellent in many ways
This ceramic version of a mate gourd is excellent in many ways. Its food and microwave safe, and it comes with a stainless steel bombilla (the filter straw that you use to drink yerba mate). The paint jobs on this sellers work are really pretty if aesthetics matter to you. The gourd also works well for drinking other hot or cold beverages and Ive used it to prepare hot chocolate, tea, and herbal teas. Something to try if you want to make a loose leaf herbal tea but don't have a tea infuser is to just steep your loose herbs straight in the gourd and then use the bombilla as your filter as you drink.

Beautiful design and not too hot to hold
Better than expected. I knew this Mate cup was going to be beautiful. However, I was worried about a ceramic mate cup getting too hot to hold. I have sensitive hands and have had a glass mate cup before that got too hot to use. I don't have the same problem with this one. It's slightly warm but in a nice way. The only potential downside, in my mind, is that the cup is large. It requires a fair amount of yerba and is pretty stout. I prefer a slightly smaller cup. Overall, I think it's great.

Beautiful and functional!
This gourd is perfect! I needed one to keep at work because I continually left my other one at home which left me a full day without terere (gasp!). I've only used it with cold liquid, but it does chill the gourd so I'd imagine hot mate would leave it a little warm to the touch. It's kind of a nice feature though - when you're drinking a cold beverage on a hot day, why wouldn't you want your gourd a little chilled?

They loved the product and I liked it that much that ...
I bought this mate ceramic gourd the first time as a gift for my parents. Our family is from Argentina, therefore, we consume mate as our daily tradition. They loved the product and I liked it that much that I decided to buy one gourd for myself, for daily use. You can have real authentic mate tea with this product. It is super easy to clean, durable and beautiful. I strongly recommend it either you are just starting or if you are already a mate expert.

This is my favorite gourd. Its got a nice weight to it and looks beautiful. It holds a lot more water than my other gourd and I really like that. While it does get warm to hold after just pouring hot water in, I have found carrying it by the top and bottom works very well. I also like the bombilla that came with it. Thank you for making such a beautiful mate gourd!!!

Paint looks terrible
This looks like your typical expectation vs reality side by side comparison when comparing this to the example. The cup itself looks to be made well, but the drippy paint leaves much to be desired.

Work of art!
You've created a work of art no less beautiful than traditional Japanese pottery. My wife loves drinking her Yerba Mate out of it with the bombilla. We may order more!
