Great boot with 50+ miles of desert hiking on them
I'm not a big fan of reviews "out of the box" with no practical time using the product, so this review is based on 50+ miles of hiking in the Arizona desert, plus along the rim of the Grand Canyon. I have found the boots to be comfortable, durable, and cost effective. They have endured time in the Muggins Mountain Wilderness Area hiking dry washes with sand, gravel, and scoured bedrock, and up into the volcanic hills with sharp rocks and loose scree fields. They have great traction in all the areas I have taken them. They also are holding up well against the local prickly vegetation, ranging from mesquite to cholla cacti, and protected my feet and ankles good against all. I have worn them into the KOFA Wildlife Refuge (named after the old King of Arizona (KofA) gold mine, located in the middle of the refuge), including the hike up Palm Canyon, which is a wash that leads up to a boulder filled canyon. These boots gave good traction on all the surfaces encountered. I also took a trip to the Grand Canyon with my dogs. Because I had dogs, I was limited to the paved trails along the rim, but the boots were very comfortable. I've also used them in the Anza-Borrego desert park and some short local trails. Some additional notes an comparisons. My previous pair of boots was a pair of Columbia Gunnison Omni-Heat Hiking Shoes. They were comfortable, but they had two issues. The first was the fabric on the sides did not hold up well to the desert and started ripping within 20 miles of starting to use them. Then the rubber that wraps up around the toe area separated from the fabric of the boot. I had to throw those boots away with less than 100 miles on them. I'm not seeing either of these issues with the Foxelli boots.I'm in my late fifties, and have wide/flat feet. These boots fit my feet well. Some truth-in-advertising, because I'm flat footed, I immediately removed the "stock" insoles, and put in Superfeet Trailblazer Comfort Insoles. With some trimming they fit great, and my feet don't hurt at all.I'll definitely buy these again and recommend them for anyone who wants a quality, comfortable hiking shoe/boot.

Please try these!
Update:I have now worn these boots all day, everyday for roughly two weeks. I walk 3 miles almost every morning with a 35 pound backpack. They still look brand new. I did not notice any "break-in" period; they were perfectly comfortable right out of the box. They are still the most comfortable footwear I have ever put on my feet (that includes expensive fluffy house slippers). If this gives you any idea on comfort level, when I am inside my house where no one but my wife and daughter can see, I will wear these things with basketball shorts and a comfy t-shirt (it looks completely goofy but it's my most comfortable setup). They are also quite lightweight which was something I was worried about with hiking boots.I have not tested the waterproofness of the boots nor can I speak to how quickly they dry out if they got water inside them for some reason. What I did not realize was that they also came with an extra pair of really awesome laces AND a pair of great socks!! My 20 month old daughter had taken those things out of the box when I first tried on the boots and I just found them under the couch inside that tissue paper stuff they pack things in. And I'm still not being paid for this review, nor do I want to. I want everyone to know how good these boots are and help this company out because they are doing good things.Original Review:Im not being paid or receiving any sort of benefit from writing this review. These boots are roughly $100 and wow! My foot is almost 11” long so i ordered a 10.5 and an 11. The 11 fit perfectly. Straight out of the box they have noticeable cushion and feel really comfortable and cushy. The tread is nice and aggressive. The brown boots looked reddish on my phone but they are in fact a deep, rich, brown. No loose threads. They feel great even when walking 3 miles with a 35 pound backpack. I just started hiking and these are absolutely the way to go! Foxelli, thank you for making a quality product. Im going to be trying more of your stuff from now on.

Update: Comfortable right out of the box!
Six month update: These boots are excellent and customer support is amazing! Back in May I wore these boots in the Black Hills, SD on a 4 mile hike called Sunday Gulch at Custer State Park. It began raining about a mile in. No big deal as I packed rain gear. The temperature went from 50 to 35 over the next couple of hours, and the gentle rain kept switching to big snow flakes and back to rain. It was actually quite beautiful and a wonderful experience being in nature. We had the trail to ourselves because of the weather. Fast forward to the end, and by the time we got back to the truck I had learned that my rain gear was worthless as I was soaked to the bone, and my feet were the only part of my body that was warm, dry, and comfortable. These are top quality boots. I walked many miles in them before and after this hike, and they are great. Take care of your feet and don't hesitate to get yourself a pair.Just did the 10k Volksmarch to Crazy Horse and decided after that it was time for some new hiking boots. The other weekend I went to a couple different stores, Cabellas being one, tried on numerous pairs, and nothing really felt right. I've got picky feet, I guess. I've I always been skeptical buying shoes on line for that reason. I bought a pair of these because of the good reviews and I liked the way they looked. I put them on expecting to find something wrong, but my feet went, "Aaaah!" They immediately felt comfortable, heel support, toe box, cushion of the sole. Now, I haven't walked a single mile in them yet, and if my opinion changes I will provide an update. But first impressions are very favorable. Don't worry. Give them a try.
