Very, very satisfying switches and feel.
I don't want to harp on the 2.4ghz dongle too hard. They all suck for some reason when you need like eight feet of range and anything has the audacity to break LOS like resting the keyboard on a leg. My 8bitdo controller? Very spotty. Logitech light speed? Terrible. This is no better or worse. I would recommend switching to Bluetooth if you can't have dead on LOS. We got this for our multimedia PC in the living room, which can game a bit. The gaming experience on Bluetooth is perfectly adequate. If you need PRECISION, however, plug it in. Battery life is well over a week of being used about 20-40 mins a day. The typing experience is truly fabulous though. The red switches are thocky and super satisfying, especially at this price bracket. Very linear and consistent. The board looks great and the non-RGB backlight is very subtle and subdued, but feature rich in patterns and brightness. I like the condensed layout that still has everything, F keys are important to me, as is a numpad. And it doesn't do any particularly wonky layout tweaks. I would have liked the letters to be clear for the backlight though. Overall, the price simply is unbeatable. I wish the 2.4ghz was more reliable, but I just think 8 feet for multimedia use of anything on that band is simply never going to work with anything unless I run a USB hub to the top of my TV like a freaking Wiimote motion tracker. While this was bought for the TV, my wife uses it wired all the time for work, and if I needed to replace my custom one for my office, the price makes it nearly unbeatable for the physical quality of the board. Rk makes awesome budget stuff, and this is no different.

Well built and functions perfectly
This is my second mechanical keyboard. I watched a lot of keyboard reviews before buying and it was a toss up between Royal Kludge and Keychron. Quality for money was my biggest concern and the RK100 met both criteria. The red switches are quiet enough for office use and I've heard they will be quieter with spacers and thick PBT keycaps. I have not added those or taken it apart. I really like it as it is. In a couple weeks I'll probably lube the switches. Ive only had it for a week and wanted to get the true feel of it before I changed anything. I'd buy this keyboard again and I'm tempted to get a 61% RK KB for travel. I should mention the RK100 keyboard does have a good amount of weight to it but would be fine for traveling back and forth to work. The construction of the keyboard is solid. The materials appear to be good quality and overall feel is on point for the price. My only worry are the small switches on the back of the board. They are recessed but worry me they'd still catch or break on something. The magnetic retention of the wireless usb dongle is a nice feature but needs a slightly better hold. I will probably glue a slightly larger magnet in place to hold the wireless usb a little stronger. The bluetooth and RF connections are both adequate for FPS gaming. Key press latency is very very slight, but I believe that is my computer and should probably look into Windows setting for devices to make sure any power saving options are turned off. Measuring the rk100 keypress latency against my wired logitech g412 I did not see much of a measurable difference. Overall this is a very nice keyboard for the money and I'd like another.

Great customer service..... Software was very buggy...
Updated April 19, 2025. The customer service contacted me regarding my issue and offered a replacement keyboard. It seems to fix the issue. I think it might be that keyboard was malfunctioned. I appreciate their quick response and customer service. It shows how much they care about their customer. Great job on that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This keyboard is working fine out of the box, but my main goal is to use the customized functions. 1) You need to download the software, but the link is not even on the user manual. I found the download link from the Amazon product page. In fact, the user manual is very simple and does not hint any customized functions. 2) Once I downloaded and used the customized functions, such as changing keyboard lights, redefining keys, and macros, I get the error message ALL THE TIME (see the attached picture)! 3) Worst yet, once I received the error message, most of the keys on the keyboard are non-functional anymore, meaning, I could not even type anything. I could not do a factory reset because the keys were not responding. I could do a factory reset in the software because I kept getting the same error message. I tried restarting the computer but it did not reset (by the way, I could not even type my password so I had to get my old keyboard out). Basically at this point, the keyboard was not functioning due to software error. There was no way to factory reset it. Am I going to risk my money due to buggy software? Absolutely no! This mean unfortunately that I have to stay away from all Royal Kludge keyboards.

Thock right out of the box.
From the way YouTubers dump on this keyboard (and RK in general) I was sure that I was going to have to pull it apart and pack it with foam, tape the back, replace the all the keys, and then spend an extra $80 on switches ... however my experience is that straight out of the box, this think Thocks. I say "in my experience" because while watching various reviews and mod videos on YouTube, I noticed that the older videos had no case foam under the mounting plate or under the PCB, while more newer ones had all of that. Didn't stop them from doing the mods anyway and then having a before and after sound test to show off how much better it sounds, but with my unit it sounds exactly like the "after." So I am guessing that RK was watching the early videos for ideas on how to improve the product, and implemented all that in the factory. There are 2 issue I have with this keyboard, but first I will go over everything else: The construction is so solid and dense that the weight of it makes you think that it has an aluminum case, but it is just high quality plastic (and a big battery acting as an anchor). The USB passthrough is completely unheard of on hot swap mechanical keyboards under $400, while non-hardwired cables are fairly rare on commercial units under $200. The wireless option is nice, but I doubt I will ever use it, and "carbon" is the keycap theme that I would have put on it anyway. For the last 4 months I have been obsessively browsing sites for some combination of features that this offers, only to randomly stumble upon this holy grail of all of them in one package, plus a dirt cheap price. Now the two negatives: First is the right shift key is half width of normal, so I keep missing it with my pinky and hitting the up arrow, and second is that RK seems to have discontinued this model as their website lists it nowhere & sketchy community links to google drive files is the only way to get the firmware up / Key & RGB customizing software package. ... so if this thing appeals to you; get it now instead of waiting and have it go out of stock down the road.

Thinking about buying this product???> DONT
I never write reviews but this keyboard is really awful that it compels me to save people from buying it. Within about 1 month keys from the keyboard started falling out, no extreme use of the keyboard was done by me just how anyone would use a keyboard... the connection to my pc with the wire is also very dodgy and would randomly disconnect from my computer causing me to have to get up and replug it.. I have replaced a total of 4 keys on this keyboard within the first 2 months.. It is aesthetic but I urge everyone to not buy it..

Great keyboard-arrived with broken stabilizer housing.
This is a really nice and heavy keyboard. However, mine arrived with a broken stabilizer housing. I have reached out to Royal Kludge to get a replacement. Will update the review if I hear back and issue is resolved. Update 1: Amazon has Royal Kludge listed as the manufacturer for this item and links you to their website (rkgamingstore.com) for warranty/part replacement/other customer service assistance. When I reached out, Royal Kludge stated they are the "authorized distributor" not the "manufacturer" of Royal Kludge products so they cannot help with part replacement. Royal Kludge suggested I reach out to the seller, which is "XUYANG ERA US"... will update when I hear from them. Update 2: Heard back from XUYANG ERA US, they cannot just sed/replace the broken part. They offered a partial refund. I gave up and returned the keyboard. Will be placing another order of it to give it another shot. I really liked the keyboard. Bummer customer service is not customer centric for amazon, Royal Kludge, and XUYANG ERA US. Update 3: The second one I ordered arrived and some of the switches didn’t register clicks. Was about 7 switches that didn’t work all the time so the 4 spare switches the board came with weren’t enough. I reached out to XUYANG ERA US and they sent a new keyboard. The new one is perfect, works great. I noticed this one came with completely different switches from the first two I received. In the photo, the left switch is the original that came with the first two boards and the switch on the right is the new switch that came in the most recent keyboard. The switches feel the same for the most part not sure what this means for quality but the annoying part is that the switch opener in the photo doesn’t work with the new version of their red switches. Had to open with tweezers- which I’m only doing because these switches benefit heavily from being lubed. Changed from 3 stars to 5 because the last interaction with customer service was pleasant and actually resolved my problem.

RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK100: A Symphony of Clicks and Colors
The RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK100 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard is not just a keyboard; it's a powerhouse that enhances every tap with a symphony of sound and a cascade of color. After spending extensive time using this keyboard for everything from gaming to long coding sessions, I am thrilled to share just how transformative this piece of technology can be.Sound Quality: Each keypress on the RK100 is a satisfying experience. The Red Switches under each key deliver a smooth, tactile response that’s audibly pleasing, making typing feel more like playing a finely-tuned instrument. This isn’t just typing; it’s an auditory experience that makes you look forward to every email, every line of code, every message.Appearance and Lighting: Visually, the RK100 is a stunner. It sports a sleek, minimalistic design that fits perfectly in any modern setup, but it’s the RGB backlighting that truly steals the show. With customizable color schemes and dynamic effects, the lighting is not only beautiful but also functional, greatly enhancing usability in low-light conditions.Comfort and Layout: The keyboard is designed with user comfort in mind, featuring a 96% full-size layout that includes a numeric keypad in a compact form factor. The keycaps are of high quality, and their slight texture helps prevent finger slipping, enhancing the overall typing experience. However, the absence of a space between the number pad and the main keys can be a slight nuisance, as I find myself accidentally toggling the num lock throughout the day. While this takes some getting used to, it's a minor hiccup in what is otherwise a flawless design.Responsiveness: Whether I’m using it wired, on Bluetooth, or via 2.4G wireless, the RK100 is impressively responsive. There’s virtually no lag, which is critical during intense gaming sessions or when I’m on a tight deadline and need my equipment to keep up with my pace.Usage: I use this keyboard incessantly. It’s not only my go-to for gaming, where responsiveness and key feel can make or break a session, but also for writing and programming. The hot-swappable feature is particularly beneficial for someone like me who likes to customize their typing experience, allowing for easy switch replacements without the need for soldering. In conclusion, the RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK100 is a phenomenal choice for anyone who values sound, aesthetics, and performance in their keyboard. While it does have a slight learning curve with the num lock key, the sheer quality and joy it brings to everyday tasks more than make up for this small oversight. It’s a keyboard that turns the mundane into the extraordinary, making it a must-have for enthusiasts and professionals alike. If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard that feels as good as it looks and sounds, the RK100 should be at the top of your list.

Great customer service!
I bought this keyboard back in November 2022 and ran into some issues with a non-functioning key in July 2024. Loved the keyboard and was hoping for an easy fix. I contacted RK customer service asking for assistance on fixing my key. We troubleshooted the issue but they were ultimately unable to help me repair it. But instead of just having me deal with the non-functioning key, RK sent me a whole new keyboard (almost 2 years after I bought the item)! They went above and beyond what I expected. The keyboard itself is great and 10/10 would recommend based on customer service alone.

Keys broke
Ok keyboard, a little mushy. Main complaint is that 2 of my keys broke, but it was easy to fix with superglue.
