Does it really go to 2” pictures show a gauge only to 1” I need to measure 1 7/8 weld thank you

If you need to measure the height of a filled weld you can only measure op until 1" in height. For a larger weld you'll need a bigger gauge. Hope this will help you. Gr. Hans

Does Thai gauge measure theoretical or actual throat?

It measures the actual throat only.

How well are the lines marked? I ask because I bought a cam gauge and depending of the angle the light hits, sometimes the lines are hard to see.

The etching on the Mark's are pretty well defined. It does have a tension adjustment for the cam, so if it's in an awkward area you can get the cam located on the material and set it then it will hold that position so you can pick it up to read it at a better angle.
