Writing Strategies DVD by Rock 'N Learn

This DVD has lot of great content. I would recommend this to everyone

My daughter who is about to enter 4th grade was assessed with a learning disability. I was told that she needs to work on her writing and spelling. Specifically, she needed to work on adding more detail, grammar, and spelling accurately. Unfortunately, many of the Spelling lists my daughter had to learn were too easy (she's not that far behind her peers) and she wasn't challenged enough to improve her writing and spelling. I was at the end of my rope when I ordered this video. In addition to the spelling drills that I've given my daughter on my own I showed her this video. This video did hold my daughter's attention. Within three weeks she's watched it five times without any prompting from me. Right after watching the video, she's always motivated to put the skills she's learned from the DVD to use and write! I can see measurable improvement in her writing samples and sentences. She now uses more description, more detail, less repetitive phrases, and better grammar. She's not where she should be yet but an improvement is an improvement and I expect that this DVD will help her tremendously in school.

I liked the video, it went over things throughly. It was nice to have a refresher and to learn new things. Parent of a 13 year old.

This was practically brand new! I am very happy with this purchase! It even has the booklet in it that goes along with the video. It said good condition in the description but it is in like new condition and I am pleased.

Got for the kids...she loved it, learned and took those skills with her when she took her state test and passed.I love all the Rock/Learn dvd's....

My 5 year old eats these "Marco the Pencil" dvd's up. I thought they'd be beyond her level, but she's constantly asking to watch them. She's learning a lot too!

So I gave it a four star because I do think this is a great movie for teaching writing strategies.Now this is not what I was hoping it would be. It is more for creative writing than research writing. I also think this will appeal more to elementary to middle school ages. My daughter who is in 1st grade loves it. I don’t think this would work for my high school research writing class.

NIce product with some simple strategies for a young child that is getting into writing.

I bought it together with "reading comprehension"it is increadibly easy to get it! it doesn't matter whether you use it for English or another language, for kids or adults, the tips are great.it is funny to learn through this collection.I advise it for foreigners as soon as they're above elementary level.

This is an American DVD but has lots of useful tips in a fun format for children to learn to improve their writing. Useful for Key stage 2
