Works as a great grey root touch up!
I have dark brown hair and have started to use a med brown permanent hair color to cover the greys. I was a bit afraid to use a root touch up product as I was afraid it wouldn't match perfectly and I would ultimately end up with different shades of brown where the root grew out. I did, however have this product on hand that I had forgotten about. It did the trick! I used it all over my hair and it covered the grey roots and made all my greys that were covered with permanent hair color a pretty, shimmery auburn/copper. I did it again a couple of weeks later, just on the roots and it covered them! Not sure if I will use it all the time for my roots, it may not be cost efficient, but it worked in a pinch. (I only wash my hair once a week and use this when the roots start to show.). I don't really know how temporary or permanent it actually is overall, but I think this could be a good option if you colored your hair and don't like it and want to grow it all out and use this in the interim. The negative is of course the staining. If you have a stainless steel sink, use that. This product does stain and you have to apply it VERY carefully and immediately wash off wherever it drops in the shower--it is crucial to work fast. Depending on the materials in your shower, some may stain, so work fast. It did seem to permanently leave a bit of a stain on one section of my wall that I missed

This stuff is pure AWESOME!
I am about 40% grey and my hair grows incredibly fast, so I would have to dye my roots at least every 4-6 weeks. This was taking a toll on my hair and it began to look dull, dry and really kind of scraggly (Grey hair is just so unruly dammit! lol) I did a little research online and several people recommended this product for grey; it was a relatively inexpensive product, so I bought two bottles and figured if I didn't like it, not much risked. The first time I used it, I shampooed, towel dried and applied the JF Glaze (with old hair dye gloves I have - it does stain skin, but not as bad as permanent hair dye) and left it to soak in for twenty minutes. I hadn't meant to leave it on that long, but unexpectedly got side tracked. After 20 minutes, I got in the shower and rinsed out well and conditioned. When I blow dried my hair, I noticed the effects of the product immediately. My hair was a richer brown color, the roots were blended well with the length, and my hair was far softer, silkier and shinier than its been in months - maybe even years! I was amazed!! I have been using this product the same way (20mins after shampoo) once a week to every 10 days, for about 3 months now and my hair has transformed! I get compliments all the time on the color and shine, and I haven't needed to actually permanently dye my hair as often as before. It's so good that I'm actually thinking of not bothering with the permanent anymore to see if I can just get by with this. I rarely rave about hair products because they never meet up to the hype, but I sing praises about JF Glaze to everyone now! There is a strong smell to it, but I find it pleasant, so it doesn't bother me (I actually like it) but I can see how it might be a little too strong for you, if you are sensitive to smells. It definitely stains, so apply with gloves, although I don't seem to have any problems with staining when rinsing it out (either my hands or the shower), just with application. I have medium length hair (A little past my shoulders) and I use about a 1/4 of the bottle for each treatment which means a bottle lasts about a month-month & 1/2. For the price and result, I couldn't be more pleased. Recommend the product HIGHLY if you are brunette and battling grey hair.

Temporary gloss for brunettes is effective and easy to use
A few days after coloring my hair, this product extends the hair shine and enriches the color, which often becomes dull after a few shampoos. While showering and after shampoo/conditioning, I squeeze out the water from my hair; then, I use a blob of the product on the top of my head and another blob on the length of the hair. I try to mix the product in well, especially on the length, to give it good coverage. I wait about 10 minutes while finishing my shower, then rinse off the product. My hair stays shiney for a few days until the next shampoo. The product doesn't last like a permanent glaze/cellophane treatment, but it doesn't damage the hair either.

Gray Be Gone, Almost
I love this product. It covers just enough of the gray to keep my youthful look but leaves enough to still get me a seat on the subway. It is easy to use too. Also, if you are not the neatest, it washes out of clothes and towels and cleans up easily from drops o shower floor. Hard to find in drug stores but always available here. Still, I keep a good supply in closet just in case they stop making it.

Color more than shine
This is more temporary color than a shine glaze. It is hard to rinse out and smells a bit too strongly. It will stain sheets and towels temporarily too.

PERMANENT, STAINED MY HAIR
IF I COULD GIVE THIS PRODUCT ZERO STARS I WOULD. I used this product for about 3 months (about once weekly) when I was post partum and didn’t want to get my hair highlighted while breastfeeding. To be clear, I only bought it to help give me some color thinking it would be TEMPORARY, as advertised. When I finally went to the salon asking for highlights, she said to discontinue the glaze for a month first. Well I did that, and my hair still lifted with BRIGHT ORANGE splotches, particularly on top where I applied most of the glaze. My hairdresser said it PERMANENTLY STAINED my hair, and that this has happened to multiple people. She said they use the same as furniture dye in their products so it will never fully come out. I filed a claim with their company, and after 6 months of waiting, they finally came back and told me there isn’t enough evidence as anyone’s hair can lift orange (even though I have never done any color to my hair except once-yearly highlights and this has never ever happened before, and it was very clearly red from the dye). I understand they don’t want to take accountability or pay, but in my opinion it is false advertising to state a product is temporary when it clearly isn’t. All I can do now is make sure others don’t make the same mistake I did! What horrible customer service as well. I will never buy a John Frieda product again.

I've used this on/off couple years. Works brilliantly. Fair price cheaper than going hairdresser.

Horrible.. It's not color, not a conditioner not a serum or a gloss and it does absolutely nothing to the hair instead makes it sticky. I will never buy this product again

Really pleased with this product. Followed the instructions except I left it on my hair a little bit longer. shampoo, rinse, towels dry, apply this product for 10mins and rinse.
