Long Star 30W 120V Bright White Mushroom Style CFL Bulb

I bought one of these in July of 2010. I'm still using it to this day. In fact, it's the light I'm using right this second. I didn't use it for a photography studio. I put it in a big torchiere style floor lamp in the corner of the room. I use it almost every day, for maybe eight to ten hours and it gives the room a rich, clear, comforting light.For other people like me, I'd point out that it's a biggish bulb so it may not fit all lamp shades and it can get a bit warm. Not as hot as an equally bright incandescent bulb though.

Seems like a good quality bulb. Color is accurate. The unit does give off a slight buzzing sound, which is fairly typical of high power CFLs. They also take a couple minutes to warm up to full light output, however they generate much less heat than incandescents, so you can leave them on throughout and not get burned when using for close photog. I am using these in umbrella reflectors for product photographs. I would highly recommend that you order up a notch or two on comparable wattage however in order to get the light volume you need, especially if reflecting. For regular household use, they do a nice job of providing daylight simulated light that isn't harsh, especially when used in reflecting cans.

They work well, but I have not quite been able to get the light balance adjusted correctly for my camera. Tends to be a bit greenish. I am photographing sari silk earrings. Sari silk can be very difficult to color balance in any light. I have tried all kinds of light, both nautral and artificial, and some colors just don't come through accurately.

I needed a bulb that would produce the majority of it's light in a focused forward direction but at the same time, still light to the side. Standard CF bulbs produce the majority of thier light to the sides while spot bulbs focus 100% of thier light forward. This bulb has fit the bill perfectly! My plant is happy! urnout twice now twice and never even had a chance to use it much

It died much sooner than past times I've bought this bulb. It didn't even last a year.

the title says it all. i bought this to use with my d.i.y. soft box and, after many failures with many other bulbs, the instant i turned it on. i knew that this was it. perfect color.
