Excellent sprayer for the price!
I have had bad experiences with cheapy "Harbor Freight" type sprayers in the past and went back to the tried and true brush and roller. This time around though, I had about 150 feet of 6 foot privacy fence that I had been dreading to stain. So, based on the reviews, I picked up this sprayer for about 42 bucks after the discount. It worked great! I had the fence stained in about half an hour. A brush and roller would have taken hours. It took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to control the spray pattern very well. The sprayer is light even when full of paint/stain. Feels sturdy and has satisfactory ergonomics. Some caveats:1. The default nozzle in the sprayer is way to large unless you need to throw a lot of paint/stain in a very short amount of time. Switch to the smaller (red) nozzle for a medium coat. I would suggest testing on a large piece of cardboard (of course I didn't do this and found out the hard way).2. It took longer to clean the sprayer than it did to stain the fence. This is in no way a knock on the sprayer. It is very easy to disassemble and clean, but since I have a lot more projects in mind for this sprayer, I was extremely thorough.3. When pulling the trigger, the sprayer will sometimes "spit" a glob of paint on your project. I would suggest pointing the sprayer away from your project and then slowly moving it in. Again, not a knock as I am still getting a feel for the sprayer and this could be due to user error or incorrect nozzle choice.4. When cleaning, bear in mind that there is a small, red gasket inside the sprayer underneath the paint tube on the side of the sprayer. This is extremely easy to lose. An extra is provided. All in all I recommend this sprayer. Form and function are excellent. As of now, I will be using this for outdoor projects, but as I become more confidant with sprayer, I plan to use it for interior projects as well. I will update this review with the results.

Great for lacquer
UPDATE: I still get nice finishes, but the unit tends to stop spraying every now and then. Fortunately the overall finish is still nice, but this is a minor annoyance.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I’d been using an HVLP sprayer with an air compressor for finishing wood projects with lacquer, and I could only rarely get a nice, smooth finish. There were drips, a lot of overspray, and a lot of orange peel. I decided to try a different method, so I picked up this little sprayer for way less than I expected. My expectations were rather low for such a low priced unit, but I am overwhelmingly pleased with how well this sprayer works. I use full strength lacquer without thinning, and I get a really nice, even, smooth finish with very little effort and very little overspray. It’s also much quieter than my air compressor, which is a bonus. I have no doubt that this sprayer would work very well for paint, but the small size of the reservoir means it would need to be refilled very often. I would not buy this product for painting entire rooms, but for small projects, it is probably ideal. Highly recommended.

A 5 star gun, great value and works the way it is supposed to.
I have to admit I was skeptical about how well this spray gun was going to work but my first attempt with it proved to be fantastic. First I stirred the paint using my drill and a paddle and then strained it. If you skip this step the gun will clog and you'll mess up your job. It took some trial and error to thin the paint correctly but I am using Glidden interior latex and i found that 200ml of water to 1 quart of paint did the trick. I also kept a wet rag handy and cleaned the tip as I was spraying. You may find different ratios of water to paint depending on the brand and type of paint you're using but be sure to make the viscosity between 70 and 80 seconds to empty the viscosity cup. I also found the black nozzle worked best for me (2.5 mm opening) giving a nice even coverage and not too heavy orange peel. The worst part about using an airless sprayer is cleaning everything when you're finished. Ha ha it sure wasn't a lot of fun but certainly necessary if you ever want to use it again. Be careful not to lose the little red check valve in the bottom of the small clear tube on the side of the gun.So in conclusion a 5 star gun. It's a great value and works the way it is supposed to.

Hate to paint
I hate to paint. I decided to try a power sprayer so after some research decided on this one. Didn't want to spend a lot of money on a sprayer cause I wasn't sure it would change how I feel about painting. Did I mention that I hate to paint? Received sprayer, read instructions and did my first spray. I was beyond excited. Wow why didn't I do this soonerThe gun was easy to use and did not cause any issues. No spitting or dry sprays. The spray pattern was perfect. I used both the horizontal and vertical patterns. I was truly amazed. Very little overspray. The clean up was easy and simple. My only issue was there was not a chart for the run out time for latex. I had to experiment with the dilution percentage. Wish there had been a chartThe gun worked perfect and now looking for something to paint.
