Would be great if they had any instruction on how to set it up!
This would have been 5 stars if Asus bothered including some instructions and troubleshooting advice with it. Basically NO instructions on what to do if the very brief quick start guide doesn't get you going. With the little printed guide you can connect the repeater to you wifi in 10 seconds and all is well, till you realise that anything connecting to the repeater won't get past the wifi access point you're extending. After a lot of faff I managed to login to the interface (beyond the crappy quick start screen), basically login to your wired access point and find what the IP address is of the Asus, then type that in the browser and you're good. Once in there after a lot of playing with the settings and such I eventually figured out I need to set the DNS values manually (auto didn't seem to work with my VigrinMedia router) and these were set to the generic google ones, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Once that was done everything works perfect. In short, a bit of hassle to setup but once that's done it works fine and if you setup the roaming assistant (in the "Professional" settings...whoever thinks of these names) you get nice handoff between the access points as you move around.

Not so good.
Ok when it works but for me it isnt stable. Constant wifi dropouts on either 2.4 or 5.0 range despite location setting showing 'green' stable LEDs so good signal strength, firmware is the latest, distance to router makes no difference, 5, 10 or 15 feet it acts the same. Required regular reboots. Reset and config'd from scratch several times to try different setups (express way, normal AP, etc.). It just wont stay stable no matter what. Shame as i have an ASUS RT-AC88u router which is very good but my house has solid thick walls and signal is dodgy in the living room. (Router located 1st floor towards front of house, living room on ground floor towards rear of house). The repeater was placed smack bang in the middle by the stairs where strength was average 60dBm and only 1 wall to contend with. Returned and replaced for a TP-LINK TL-WPA8630P KIT AV1200 Gigabit Powerline Dual Band AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender @ £5 more. Soon as the mesh WiFi units get cheaper (& Google release theirs in the UK), i will be headed that way.

Keeps losing Wi-Fi signal
So i bought this to extend my Wifi signal range to my back garden becuase my router, despite how good it was, could not transmit a signal that far. This was used to bridge that gap.On reciept the setting up process was easy, two buttons and done, relocate it closer to my garden, simple. Used it outside great.Next day went to the garden again to use it and despite having alkl the settings correct it refused to connect me to the internet, had a look at it and apparently all was good, but still it didin't work. I had to switch it off and on again to get a connection again. And i have to do this every single time i want to go into the garden, not good.

Spent days trying to get it to work. No support. Forced to return.
I bought this as an extender to work with my current wifi setup. The instructions are fairly simple. Problem is I can not get it to work no matter what I do. I can get the thing to recognise my connection, I can get it to complete its setup phase but once everything appears to be finished, I connect to it and get zero internet. So then I began spending hours and hours searching on the Asus website to find solutions but there is literally nothing or online in the manual that deals with the possibility that something might go wrong. When I open the connection details (accessed through a browser) I'm hit with about a hundred complicated options that are impossible to understand without some kind of basic guidance. Why is this console available if I'm not provided with a manual to make sense of it? Probably worth noting that I'm a pretty technically savvy person and am willing to put in the time to solve problems of this sort. But without any support or documentation beyond the simple setup instructions, I'd need to be an IT professional to fix this problem. Tried contacting the UK number provided by Asus that came with the device and was informed the number doesn't work. Check mate. I'm done with this pile of worthless junk.

Range extender
I purchased this Range extender as a replacement for the ASUS AC750 range extender which working very well but in the furthest points in the house the connection wasn't stable. The areas with unstable connection weren't really large (a round half a room and a bathroom) so I thought that this model with its external antennas should be better.Unfortunately, this wasn't the case, and the areas with unstable connection just got slightly bigger. However, having experienced the effect of concrete on wireless networks I don't blame this range extender very much.At the moment it is connected by a Lan cable to a router. and it is being used as an Access Point in another house and it is doing that job very well.UPDATE: the range and connection quality on this product seem to get weaker and weaker, I now completely reverted to the old AC750, I highly recommend skipping this product for the other (if you are planning on purchasing ASUS) as it is almost three times more expensive with negative effect in return.
