This butyl tape does a good job sealing in the applications I use it for which are waterproofing and sealing the metal to asphalt shingle mating surfaces when mounting brackets or j-arm mounts are attached to a roof surface. I also use it for sealing interior and exterior cable entrance holes when running coaxial or ethernet cable into buildings. Not sure how it performs in the colder months, but this time of year (June/July) on a hot day handling this stuff is like stepping on a piece of gum on a hot sidewalk - it'll form long thin sticky threads - it's too soft and sticky. The roll itself I have to hang on a piece of stiff wire in the back of the truck - if it lies flat it'll stick like poop to a blanket to anything else it touches and will form strings and leave bits behind when it's picked up for use. As I said, it seals well and has good adhesion to wood, vinyl siding, PVC cable sheathing etc. If one were to use it for sealing seams between long straight joints in materials I think it would also perform well. As with a lot of this type of thing, time will tell if it lasts or not - at present I can't comment on how it'll stand up to weathering, sun exposure, etc.The roll could probably be stored flat between two pieces of waxed paper or parchment paper - something along those lines, and maybe when it chills out a bit weatherwise it will be easier to handle. Not a bad product - but for me to give anything five stars, it has to acheive pretty much perfection and be at the point where it's almost impossible to make better. This stuff is three stars on a good day, one star on a bad day.

Bought to patch my barn, quonset, and shop roof. The roofs are tin, and the gaskets on the tin screws are all dried and crumbling. I used this tape in pieces to re-seal the screws. Works awesome so far but time will tell.

great product did a lot of projects this summer sorry but cant justify almost double in price in 6 months ???

i tried several and this is by far the best, best formed and grips well, and plenty to make the skylight, window frame, followed the instructions and kept it in the fridge prior to application and a beautiful result

Easy to use. Seals great if applied properly. Cover the whole area to be sealed then trim off excess.
