5 stars, works great. I'm a vacuum bag snob too
first off any bad reviews are more than likely a result of using an inexpensive vacuum sealer type system. The cheaper grade machines tend to not seal very well compared to higher quality machines, you do get what you pay for and i have both cheap and good quality ones (food saver & Cabela's brand sealers). Cheaper sealers have thin sealing lines (maybe 1/8" or so) where as higher quality machines have sealer lines about 1/4" or so. More sealing line is more secure on the seal and also allows more "slop room" with the seal in the event it isn't perfect on one angle or something. these bags are about 1/3 less cost than the ones i usually buy. i was skeptical but same time hopeful and they didn't disappoint by any means. I often buy rolls of various width's so that I can seal my items in correct size bags. You will also want to be sure that you have the best possible layout for your items in there. If you have things like marbles you can get the air out but you need to spread out the marbles so there are air gaps between them. If doing things like ground meat you should try to push it a bit flat and fill the edges as best as possible, then you want some type of "shelf" for the bag to sit LEVEL on at the same height as the sealer for the best possible vacuum and seal. If your bag hangs down a bit the sealer will have a harder time pulling out all the air. PRO TIP your bags must lay flat and free of any creases to get a GOOD quality vacuum and thus a seal. If it's not vacuuming correctly within the first couple seconds you have a crease or possibly junk where the vacuum is trying to lay down. You need to clean the junk off with a rag or fix the crease. Ideally you should also have the textured side down, not up. I tried this and the result was still good with textured side up, but smooth side up gave the best possible vacuum seal. Take your time and do it right when doing vacuum sealing and your results will be much better. I will surely be ordering a lot more of these as I do my own processing of meat. I've had items in my freezer for 3+ years and they're still as fresh as they day they were sealed.

Works GREAT with our Freska Food Sealer!
Bought these to so I could dust off our Freska food sealer our son gave us for Christmas 3 years ago to start using it again. When he gave it to us, we thought "cool...quite a little novelty item that we probably won't use." HE went through the included bags pretty quickly with his fish filets and deer sausage at which point we knew to whom the gift was REALLY intended. But, with the recent ridiculous rise in meat costs, we've decided to resurrect it and start buying meat in bulk from the various grocery stores "loss leader" ads and socking it away in our 'extra' freezer. These bags worked perfectly in our Freska sealer, and when purchasing them in rolls like this, they are actually cheaper than ziplock freezer bags and of course there is the added benefit of sucking out all of the air that might otherwise freezer burn meat stored for long periods of time. While I can't compare to other brands, these seem plenty thick and I have had no problems with them tearing while sealing. Plus, if you have sharp edges (as another review mentioned as a potential negative, noting they were thinner than some other brands), this package came with half a dozen "bone guards" that could be placed inside over any rough edges to prevent this problem. I will likely run out of freezer space before using both of these rolls, but when the time comes I will order these again. Great value, and our newfound hobby will save us hundreds on various meats over the course of the coming years.
